Miles felt like and idiot. The summer job really did take his mind off things, even that he had a girlfriend! Miles wanted to hit himself repeatedly with a brick.
"Stupid. Stupid." He kept mumbling to himself. He would never tell Vannie of this, she wouldn't understand. It was so confusing for him too. The annoyance of knowing that he had fogotten his own girlfriend. He felt like the worst boyfriend in the world. He blamed his job, it was so rushed and took up most of his time.
Miles had circled Lacock a few times now, and still no sign of her. He reached a small flower stall, it reminded him of Sylvia, the small roses in a little pot. Miles noticed the sign for the stall a bit lopsided, so he straightened it a bit. Where was the stall owner? Leaving the flowers and money box here.
Then he noticed it. Childish hand writing on the sign saying 'Sylvia'. Could it be obvious than that? "Sylvia?" He knocked on the door. "Are you there? It's me Miles."

The door opened and the little blonde girl appeared from behind the door. She stayed inside the house and staed up at him.
"Sylvie, I understand know, I need to speak to you. Outside?" He asked her. He understood. Sylvia felt pleased. She stepped outside and closed the door.
They walked down to the stream that Sylvia had seen earlier on and sat on the bank.
"Listen, I've got it all figured out, except one little thing which I don't understand. But anyway ..." Miles took a deep breath and carried on.
"Being here, at home and having a busy summer job. It made me forget about my girlfriend, Vanessa Corbette. I don't know how but you knew that, and tried to stop Cassie from telling me she liked me, because you knew I liked her in some sort of way. But not as much as Vannie. I love her so much and you sort of ... saved me." He took a breather and stared at Sylvia to see her reaction. She nodded.
"I'm right??" Miles was astounded. Finally, something right in his life. Sylvia nodded again and giggled.
"But ... " Miles trailed off, he still couldn't believe it. "How did you know who Vannie was? I haven't talked about her." Sylvia stared at him, she didn't want him to find out, not yet. She picked up his hand and smiled.
Holding his hand reminded him of Vannie, how he missed her. Sylvia stood up and made him do so too. She pulled him to the house where she was before.
"Sylvie? Why are we here?"
Sylvia smirked to herself and knocked on the door. She knew what was coming, but she bet Miles had absoloutley NO IDEA.
"Coming" They heard the voice of the woman inside the house. She opened the door and said "Oh Sylvie! I thought I'd lost you again, I wondered where you'd ..." Lia stopped and stared at Miles.
"M...Mum?"
