Groaning Gums
Theme 50: Waddiwasi


Lily Evans was late for class, because she had split her bag, minutes earlier, while trying to fit a Runes dictionary into it. By the time she reached the Charms classroom, the door had been closed.

Oh no!

What should she do, now? If she opened it, everyone would know that she was late. Imagine! Lily Evans, late! Mustering up all her courage, she slowly reached for the doorknob – and instantly paused.

Stuck there was a wad of bright, blue gum.

Lily groaned.

“Trouble, Lils?” a deep voice asked.

Not him, now. Lily turned around, glaring. “No,” she said coldly. “Nothing I would like you to interfere in, thank you.”

“Really?” James asked, humming as he pointed his wand to the door. “Waddiwasi.” The gum flopped on to the floor. He bowed, all gentlemanly. “Please enter.”

Any other girl at Hogwarts would have squealed, fangirl style, and dropped dead on the floor in happiness over this action of James Potter. The James Potter. Lily Evans, however, remained unimpressed.

“I know you stuck the gum in the keyhole in the first place, Potter,” she said coldly, banging the door shut as she entered the classroom. Hard.

Behind her, James groaned loudly.
