Fabian wasn't a religious man, but in that instant he saw his life flash behind his eye. "Oh lord" he whispered along with a small prayer. He won't hex a student, even if it was dangerous as a cheetah.
His arms crossed tightly across the bag that he held against his chest, eyes fixed on the Cheetah, not sure what made him talk to it. But he decided anyway, since either way he would die. "So you wanted to learn about mermaids?" he croaked taking a step back at the same time.
