Technically technical all the time Bookaholic Snape was sorely tempted to just get up and start pounding on the door like a child. He sneered at Marcella and her comments and then looked away, at the door. What in heavens name was she talking about. He hadn't changed at all and even if he had, it was entirely her fault... He stopped his thoughts and chastized himself for thinking like a child and blaming anyone other than himself for what happened in his life. He was responsible for his own thoughts and actions....
Perhaps Marcella was correct. He was only now begining to think. If he had thought before he acted, he would not have fallen in love with Marcella. If he had thought before he acted, he would not have landed himself in Azkaban the first time. If he had thought before he acted, he would have kept Darrin alive to torture or perhaps find a cure for death so that he could bring the boy back to life and kill him over and over again..
Snape stopped his thoughts again. These were dangerous thoughts, to be held in check. They reminded him of how far he had come from his younger days and that it was not just Marcella who needed to recover from his murderous act. With that, his thoughts turned back to the girl who had stolen his heart. Perhaps if she was serious about not liking this change in him, it would make his leaving easier on her. When, he finally turned back to Marcella he spoke, "Perhaps it is better that way."
