I have friends in the movie industry, there is only one way to keep a book true and that would be a mini-series. For a book to movie, cuts have to be made. A movie is only about 2 hours long. This is the reason that Deathly Hallows will be two movies because the cuts neeeded would make it a incomplete story line.
All of you who do not understand, need to start watching disc 2 of all your Harry Potter DVD's. They have some great interviews with JK Rowling and Steve Kloves and also with the directors and other production staff. They describe what can stay from book to movie and what must be cut and why.
You are definitely right about the thing with scene cuts. I hate when people get all spazzy about stuff like that. People work hard to do this. (I'm jealous. Friends in the movie business? *Steals chocolate with randomness*
