Summer Part 4

For the next few weeks Keely spent most of her summer with red puffy eyes and pale skin for crying so much and for hardly ever going outside.
“I can’t believe what happened to Keely.” said Lily, “Her mother is so cruel.”
“I found out how cruel Keely’s mum was after I got bit by the werewolf.” said Remus, “When the Walkers used to live next door to me, when Keely and I were playing together outside, her mother ran out and yelled, ‘What are you doing with the werewolf?’ and dragged Keely back inside. Most parents don’t even do that kind of thing when their kids hang out with werewolves so what she did was pretty cruel.”
“I’m sorry, Remus.” said James, he, Remus, Lily, Sirius, Peter, and Meg were in Diagon Alley shopping for some of their school things.
“It’s alright,” said Remus, “I guess I’m sort of used to that kind of thing.”
“So how are things going with your mum?” asked Meg.
“To be honest, I’m pretty worried about her.” said Remus, “I mean, of course I have to worry about her when she’s living with my dad without anyone to help her at all.”
“My dad works at the Ministry of Magic,” said James, “Maybe he could put a stop to this and have your step dad sent to Azkaban.”
“That would be great.” said Remus, “But my step dad has a good reputation in the wizard world. Who would honestly believe that Jim Parker, one of the greatest wizards in the worlds, can be known to beat up his wife and kids?”
“You know, he’s got a point.” said Peter.
“I can at least try.” said James, “My dad hates your step dad, seems to see right through the guy. I’m sure it’ll work out.”
“But James, that still wouldn’t really help,” said Lily, “If your dad hates Remus’s step dad and is trying to get him sent to Azkaban, then the Ministry will think that your dad is just trying to get Remus’s step dad in trouble. We need proof in order for it to work out; you know, catch him in the act.”
“That’ll be pretty hard.” Remus said and someone cut in; “Hey guys.”
The group looked around until they saw Keely standing a few feet away from them, her arms laden with shopping bags.
“Hi Keely,” said Sirius, “How are you feeling?”
“I’m feeling a bit better.” said Keely, “I guess it wasn’t much of a loss since my mother was pretty cruel anyway. How are you guys doing?”
“Fine,” said James, “my little sister Mia is really excited about coming here.”
“I bet she is.” Said Keely, “I better get going,” she added looking over her shoulder, “My brother is probably looking for me right now. We accidentally got separated a few minutes ago so I’m still looking for him.”
“Will you need any help looking?” asked Remus.
“Oh, no.” said Keely, “I’m sure I’ll be able to find him on my own, see you on the train next week.” And Keely left without looking back.
“Poor Keely.” said Lily, sadly.
