Adia suddenly felt stupid when Alex's mother rolled her eyes at her. She had a feeling this wasnt going to be as good a visit as she thought. She politely said, "Lovely to meet you as well, ma'am."

Suddenly Alex put his arm around her shoulder and she knew the news was coming. She smiled a sort of uncomfortable smile when he said it. Then he kissed her on the cheek, and she knew they were in this together, and he was just as nervous, possibly even more so then her. She put her hand on his back between his shoulder blades, and gave him a reassuring rub. She looked at him with a look that said, It will be ok, I promise. She realized why he was so reluctant to talk about his family.
