Alicia snickered. “’Course. You know, some people say that Muggles kind of have their own sort of magic. Very interesting, actually. Especially what they can do with food,” she said to Sammy with a nod.
“Morning,” she added, seeing others enter the dining room.
Garret nodded to Tuesday. “Okay, I’ll be right back to you with that,” he said. Turning and walking back to the kitchen he took a Ziploc bag from the pantry, and put ice, from inside the refrigerator, into the plastic bag. “Here you go Tues,” he said, zipping the bag just before he handed it to her.
The man’s eyes curiously darted to the window as he heard a sound that was a bit like an… Is that an owl? he thought. Then saw the barn owl. Without a word, he walked over to the window, opened and let the owl fly in and land on his shoulder, then finally got the letter from the owl. As his eyes scanned the letter, fear crossed the forty-three year olds eyes. “Alicia, can you come here for a minute?” Garret asked, and saw her get up and walk over. “Yes, dad?” Alicia asked as she reached him. “Uh, look, Lic, we’ve got to go as soon as possible. Which means that you’re friends are going to have to leave as well.” Seeing her questioning look, he continued. “Something happened with Callie, and we’ve got to get to Edinburgh. I’ll go ahead and call everyone’s parents and tell them that everyone’s coming home a bit early.”
An hour later, when he was sure that everyone was safe back at home, Garret, Alicia, Massie, and Mackayla gathered by the fireplace, getting ready to travel to Scotland, via Floo powder.
