Shel had been listening intently but, when Vannah said he might become a big brother, he nearly choked. "Vannah!" he said, getting a grip on himself. "Please! It's not like I don't already have half a dozen annoying, little cousins to deal with when I'm at home."
Her hand in his, he smiled slightly when she spoke about ghosts. "I don't think I'll try walking through a wall, thank you," he told her.
"We all have to do things we don't want to, Vannah," he told her cheekily. "Like attend Ancient Runes. Fall off a broom in the middle of the Quidditch cup, while shouting 'We're winning.'" The corners of his mouth twitched as he led her on to the dance floor.
