600 Years of Diagon Alley CelebrationJoin us this summer in celebrating 600 years of Diagon Alley with a special festival hosted by the Alley's shopkeepers.
Over at the end of the street you might think you hear the sound of bowling. Is that a bowling alley you see, out here on the street? Ah, magical extension charms are wonderful things and they have somehow managed to fit bowling lanes out here in the middle of Diagon Alley. But as you draw near the booth, you'll see this is no ordinary bowling alley. Instead of pins, those are potions bottles and vials! What will happen when you knock one over? A burst of flowers? Sparkly hair? Well, it will be a surprise, and who knows what potions and elixirs Madame Primpernelle and Slug & Jiggers have cooked up. But first you have to knock one down. So come up and try your skill, and don't worry -- the shrunken heads will be happy to give you pointers on your technique.
_____
OOC: RP your character getting a shrunken head, bowling at the target, and what (if anything) you hit, but if you knock any of the vials over, don't RP the result--The Chronicler will be along shortly to let you know what happened.
As the three bottles went down, a slow stream of iridescent soap bubbles floated up, bursting one at a time with feeble popping sounds.
"Ha Ha!" sneered one of the Shrunken Heads in the line of balls waiting to be bowled. "Maybe if you were thinking more about the game and less about the lady, you might do better."
It was a success! Apparently the game thought so too, for two large, beautiful peacocks rose up from the debris, holding a banner between their beaks which spelled out in colorful letters:
"WELL DONE!"

That was a least the truth. He thought it was maybe a 15 minute walk? (In actuality it was probably more like 30.) As for the job, well… ”No… I think I have a lead on a job. I’ve – well I’m – I don’t think I could go back to work for a Ministry again.” He limped back towards her and gave her a quick kiss.
He picked up the head which was busy taunting him. He held it up to eye level. It’s eyes were stitched shut. ”Yes, well, if you could see her, you’d be a bit preoccupied too buddy.” He then winked at Aurora and bowled for his spare. He knocked down 3 more bottles, but didn’t hit any vials. Aurora on the other hand, seemed to be a natural at this. As the peacocks appeared he clapped proudly. ”Very good!” he said honestly. He wasn’t the type of man to get upset when the person he liked was doing better then him. Nope he was a big ol’ cheerleader.
"It's fine," Aurora reassured Teddy. That he lived near her, in the same part of London was better than when they had lived in different towns and countries. "At least now we live in the same town, we didn't do that before." They could always apparate or floo if they didn't have the legs for the walk from him to her. She knew that it took at least 30 minutes or so..."Oh, okay."[/b] Aurora nodded in understanding. She knew why Teddy wouldn't want to go back to the ministry. "I erm, If the job lead doesn't pan out let me know and I can see if one of my colleagues knowes of any open jobs for places and companies that doesn't work directly for the ministry." Aurora had connections so if Teddy wanted to then she'd use them, but only with his okay.
Aurora smiled lovingly as she heard Teddy talk to the shrunken head. Yes, she was a beautiful and successful woman, apparently even the bowling lane thought so as two pretty peacocks flew up from the ball debris with a banner congratulating her on a job well done. Spinning around to face Teddy she grinned "Thanks darling!" Before she picked up a new ball she stopped to give Teddy a quick kiss. "Is your leg acting up again?" Aurora asked sympathetically. She had seen him limping. Grabbing a new ball she went to the lane and aimed and threw the ball. Aurora hoped for a strike, but instead the ball swerved to the side and didn't hit any bottles or vials at all.

"Better luck next time, dearie," remarked one of the waiting Shrunken Heads in a cheerful voice, as the total miss produced no reaction from the bowling alley whatsoever.

"Okay so I checked out the booths on my way here and I think we can start here at bottle bowling, then go design a commemorative coin or t-shirt or something which I guess we'll finish around noon, so we can grab a bite to eat at the food stands aaaaand go our separate ways after that."
Spending a day with Eiji at a festival was not on Jina's radar either. She assumed they would only be hanging out for half a day - so that they could both meet other people afterwards! "Unless you're against breaking potion vials?" she looked up curiously.
What...was she...
Despite his cool and collected appearance, on the inside Eiji was every shade of confused which only turned into agitation as he loathed being confused. Especially about his own commitments...or rather ones he had no idea he had actually agreed to. The confidence in which she spoke, as though this had been planned for months, was sending the former Slytherin into a tailspin because WHEN had they discussed meeting up at this festival? He was beginning to wonder if the ventilation he had constructed in his small apartment was not as thorough as he had designed, perhaps he needed to readminister a few enchantments once he returned to Japan, and the fumes from his alchemy experiments was starting to warp his brain a bit. Wouldn't be all that surprising ... and was also why he was not considering a career in the Department of Mysteries. He knew what toll the presence of experimental magic could take.
His face neutral, Eiji merely slow blinked as Jina continued to ramble. "...right," he nodded skeptically while his jaw set slightly and his brow knit. Part of him wanted to point out that he had had no intention of running into her today, let alone spend half a day with her, but something made him hold his tongue. Perhaps it was the desire not to cause a scene. Was Jina a crier like Nina? He really did not fancy finding out. "I don't really want to have a t-shirt. Maybe you should do that once we've parted ways." He paused, eyeing the stand again and the potential prizes while weighing the pros and cons of his athletic ability. There was no accounting for physics when it came to using heads to bowl, and Eiji was not entirely one to leave things in the hands of luck.
And also...yes...breaking potion vials seemed like a waste to him, but then he figured these were special ones designed to break more easily and therefore they would be flimsy for normal use anyway.
"Nah, no qualms," he shook his head while glancing at the shrunken heads again. "...as long as I am not supposed to stick my fingers in their nostrils." Like the three holes in a bowling ball.

He gave her a big smile. "If it doesn't pan out, I will gladly take the help." Only, he hoped he didn't need to. He was an adult and needed to stand on his own two feet. Especially if he was going to stay here. But he wasn't above asking for help. "But I think this Charmist lead will work out." It was going to be very different work from what he did for MACUSA, but that might be a good thing. He was starting over after all and if he didn't like it, well, he could keep looking.
"Hmm? It is..." he gave his foot a shake. "It'll likely go away in a few minutes." He shrugged it off. He leaned down to get one of the shrunken heads, when he straightened. He found Aurora there with a kiss. He laughed and smiled. He liked this new affectionate Aurora. It was different. His last girlfriend hadn't been the affectionate type and well, the PDA fight Aurora. "Awww... you'll get 'em next time." He told her as she missed. Then stepping up, he hurled the head down the alley, taking out five bottles and a vile. "You know, bowling is a lot easier with muggle bowling balls."

"But not as much fun, dearie," commented the next Shrunken Head Ball waiting in line.
Down at the other end of the alley, a series of fireworks burst up from the downed bottles and vial, exploding overhead in a shower of glitter.

Although she was glad to get out of the house and have some much needed fun, she felt that they truly heeded it. Although she was still a bit insecure about how she looked, she still had baby fat from the twins, but was told that was normal but still made her feel insecure about her body. Walking around the place she realized that she missed getting her stuff for school and just having fun at the many different shops.
Today was their first outing together as their little family, and Stella was one proud mama lioness showing off their beautiful twins. They were snuggled and dressed adorably in their double carriage and protected from the sun and sleeping peacefully through everything. "Ooh... sounds like fun, I haven't done this in a long time so probably will suck at it, but it's all fun." It was all good and fun, that was what today was all about after all, they might be parents now but they deserved to have fun.
Getting out of their apartment for a bit was already proving to be a great idea. It was such a nice day outside and it would've been a shame to stay indoors. With each passing day their little ones grew bigger and stronger, Ocean knew they would be okay.
"I haven't played since I was a kid either but that's the point. Let's have a good time and enjoy it, laugh at how horrible we both play," he grinned at Stella. Yes they were parents now and he took that job extremely seriously but he was also still a young man that could have a little fun sometimes. Today that simple fun would come in the form of bottle bowling.

Dear Merlin!
Oceanus blinked in confusion and surprise. Where had he come from?! He was sure the man hadn't been there seconds earlier. Whatever. That didn't matter now.
He grinned. "I think we will have a go. Just the two of us." The little ones in the double stroller were much too young for anything here as they were still only newborns.

"Excellent!" exclaimed Barty, smiling with all his teeth. "That's two tickets, then--and you can place your donations in the goblet on the counter." Barty was still miffed at that requirement--it was like they didn't trust him with the money! (which was probably smart, and just as well...)
Missa Renaldi loved being a YATI, and couldn't wait to be an official Auror. There was no hiding it, there was no denying it - so much so that even the menial tasks didn't bother her, so much so that she had been slacking at university - no matter how much she tried to do better.
So naturally she had been totally okay with patrolling the celebration at Diagon Alley. Although it all looked harmless, she knew why they had to be cautious - the entire fiasco with the Neo-Alliance had left everyone scarred after all. With that in mind, she made the necessary checks here and there and walked along the street - totally envious of some of these kids having so much fun.
.....but she didn't really realise what envy could mean until her eyes fell on a pair not that far from her. Uncomfortable, and immediately irritated, Missa tried to reason what this might be about but .... it was incredibly hard to just look at it for what it was; her boyfriend was just hanging out with an old school mate.
Part of her wanted to stomp her way over and interrupt the cosy little date of theirs - but part of her was rational enough to stop herself. Annoyed beyond belief, she instead forced herself to look away.
Because no, just no.
Deliberately looking for anything else for distraction then, she walked away.

Barty Belcher glanced up from counting the afternoon proceeds in time to observe the young witch look at that couple that had come by earlier and then abruptly turn away and take off. Uh oh. Trouble there, that is. Oh well, none of his business.
Turning back to his counting, he made a final notation in the ledger. Not a bad haul, if he did say so. Too bad none of the profits were his. All this charitable activity had better translate into improving his business--he'd hardly had time to tend to the Shrunken Heads Bowling Alley, he'd been so busy with this celebration, and business had been few and far between as a result. And now the summer was over, so no more students. Barty could only hope that more people would start coming in once the distraction of the celebration was over.
