Whether that was down to his buttoned up shirt or Evangeline’s gesture, he wasn’t really sure.
“Oh – Erm, right, see you Bells. Go break an ankle” He grimaced, as she ruffled up his hair. You two have fun? He wrinkled his nose at the thought, and glanced at Evangeline who now had hold of his tie. “A-Are you not gonna..?” He looked in the direction of the dancefloor. “Y-You know, boogie on down or whatever it is those crazy people are doing.”
Evangeline shyly bit her lip when her own movement sunk in. She felt her cheeks burn and carried on twisting his tie, looking away from him. She was supposed to think before she act! She glanced over at Clifford and smiled sheepishly at him before turning to Bella. “See you Bella.” She grinned at the girl but soon raised an confused eyebrow. Why did she keep on looking at them like that?
As she watched Bella disappeared into the crowd she shook her head, maybe it was better not to know. She looked back at Clifford at his question, slightly taken back. Was he asking her to dance? Or was he just asking her if she was going to dance? “Erm…I’m not sure.” She wrinkled her nose, trying to make sense in her own head. “I mean, dancing by yourself can’t be that fun. Besides I already look pathetic enough with this skirt, I don’t need people staring at me because I’m…” Her voice trailed off as she noticed she was rambling and she looked at the dancefloor. Why was she so nervous? It was just Clifford! Well, duh, that’s exactly why I’m nervous. She bit her lip and glanced up at him. “Are you going to?” She asked him, hoping more than anything that her cheeks wouldn’t betray her. |
