Yet another family has decided to
auction off their first edition copy of
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, one of only 300. The book was bought off the shelf of a bookstore for no more than ten Rand, which is equivalent to $1.40 (US). The South African owner, Greer Salt had “seen the book on a book shop shelf and had jumped at the chance to introduce her daughters to the ancient concept of alchemy.” It is expected to be sold for approximately $20,000, and until recently, the owner had no idea the book was worth so much. This first edition copy of
Harry Potter will be auctioned off on
Auction Explorer for a week, starting October 11th.
