Ok the long awaited post. This chapter has the letter to Hermione
Hope you like it!!! Chapter 25
Harry was in complete shock. Malfoy? Ginny was going out with Malfoy?
“Is that what that girl meant in potions?” Harry asked as they walked back to the common room.
“I guess. Hermione and me had just heard that she was seeing somebody. We didn’t know she had a boyfriend. And Malfoy of all people.” Ron said. He muttered the password and they both walked in. Since the armchairs were occupied, they sat at the same table they were at the day before.
“I can’t believe she’s going out with Malfoy. And I wasn’t trying to be her father.” Ron said irritably.
Harry couldn’t believe it either. He didn’t expect her to stay single for the rest of her life. He didn’t like the thought of her with somebody else, but he knew Ginny had grown into a beautiful girl. Guys were probably lining up for her. But he didn’t think she would find somebody so soon. And the fact that it was Malfoy made it even worse. He felt his skin begin to boil just thinking about it.
“Hey isn’t this Hermione’s book?” Ron said pulling the charms book toward him.
“Huh?” Harry said turning to him.
Ron began flipping through the pages boredly. A piece of parchment was stuffed neatly into the fold. Hermione’s letter from yesterday. Harry saw Ron look away quickly, but curiosity took over Harry. He peaked at the writing at the end and saw a huge loopy signature, which looked like it was mastered from doing it so much, formed into the words
Victor Krum.
“It’s from Krum.” Harry said. A pained look crossed Ron’s face before he looked back at the letter. Harry titled his head upside down so he could read it.
Hermione,
I loved your last letter. I was happy to hear the good news. You don’t know how long I have been waiting to hear you say that. I’m sorry it took me so long to write back to you. Quidditch training has been wearing me out. But I finally got the chance to write this letter. I have just gotten an invitation to Fluer and Bill’s wedding. I haven’t replied back yet if I’m going. I would like to go, to pay my respects to the happy couple, but I have a feeling one of your friends wont like it much. I do think it is a silly reason not to go, but I’m only going to do what you fell is best. If you don’t wish for me to come, I understand. But I really would like to see you again. Ok, I want to go back to your last letter. Does this mean you want to be a couple? Because don’t lie Hermione. I know you have been wanting this for some time now. But I am glad you are now seeing it in your future. Well I must be wrapping this letter up. I hope you’re doing well in school. (I am assuming you are back in school now.) I know you are going to be top in all of your classes like usual. I really do miss you and I hope you decide it’s ok for me to come to the wedding. I will be waiting for your letter like always.
Hope to see you soon,
Victor Krum
Harry finished the letter and looked up at Ron. He was turning green and he looked ready to throw up. He slowly looked up from the letter and looked back at Harry. They sat quietly, not saying anything to each other, when the portrait hole slid open and Hermione walked in. Harry instinctively shut the book with the letter still tucked inside. She walked over and sat down next to Ron.
“They didn’t have the book I wanted. Somebody had already checked it out.” Hermione sighed.
Harry saw Ron open and close his mouth angrily at her, but no words escaped his mouth. He looked ready to blow up at her at any moment though. Hermione was oblivious to it all.
“I saw Ginny walk by on my way back. She looked pretty upset about something.”
“She’s going out with Malfoy.” Harry said darkly.
“What?! I’m so sorry Harry. How did you find out?” she asked. Ron was slowly turning from green too red.
“Me and Ron ran into them kissing.”
“I can’t believe she chose Malfoy. Me and Ron-“
Ron stood up so quickly from his chair it fell over behind him. His fists were clenched tightly and his whole body was tense. It was like her saying his and her own name together, was going to make him blow his top.
“What is the matter with you?!” Hermione asked outraged.
“You…” he started out. Harry intervened, however, by putting his arm around Ron’s neck.
“He’s not feeling so well. After seeing what we saw, we both kinda got sick to our stomachs. We need sleep. Night Hermione.” Harry said and led Ron to the boy’s dormitory.
When they were safely in the dormitory, Harry turned to Ron. “Are you alright mate?”
“Do I look alright?” he snapped. It showed how much Harry valued Ron’s friendship, when he didn’t get mad at him for snapping at him.
“Look, I know you’re really mad at her right now,” Ron snorted at this. He was more than just mad.
“But you can’t tell Hermione that you read the letter. Do you how mad
she’ll get if you tell her you read it? Or if she finds we read it?” Harry said.
“I don’t care.” Ron said still steaming.
“Yes you do. I’m not telling you to stop being mad at her, but don’t blow up at her about it. Just ignore the whole thing.” Harry said. He was pretty mad at Hermione too. He couldn’t believe she would do this to Ron. They weren’t exactly a couple, but it almost felt like she was cheating on Ron. It seemed hopeless between them now. She obviously said yes to be Krum’s girlfriend. That was why he was so happy in the letter.
“Just don’t tell her you read the letter.” Harry said again and Ron took a deep breath. He sat down onto his four-poster and ran his hand through his fiery red hair.
“I thought…” Ron sighed. “I don’t know what I thought. It was stupid for thinking it anyways.” He said and laid down in his bed. He pulled the hangings around him and Harry felt he should leave him alone.
He stripped out of his clothes and pulled on his pajamas. Then he climbed into his own four-poster. He took off his glasses and placed them on the night table, also pulling his hangings around him too. Lying there in his bed, he began thinking about all that had happened in the past hour. Malfoy and Ginny…Krum and Hermione…Ron’s face after he had read the letter…His own heart breaking at the sight of Malfoy and Ginny kissing…Harry thought nothing could erase the awful image of Ginny crying in his head, but he had been wrong. It was gone far from his mind, replaced with an even worse one.
