Chapter 2, Part 1
As the day’s light faded from the sky above, a cloaked figure stood in the rain-drenched alley; clutching an arm in pain. The boy’s pale, sunken face, hidden behind the cloak’s hood twisted in agony while he pulled back the sleeve of his robes. With a gasp he stepped backwards and his hood fell off, him revealing his dark chocolate hair and emerald green eyes. Quickly he pulled down his sleeve and covered his face once more before he spun slowly on the spot, disappearing suddenly.
He was in a forest, the tall, thick-trunked trees towering over him. The boy did not bother to don his mask and he strode quickly to the clearing only a short walk from where he stood. It had rained recently and the leaves gave off the scent of rainwater and grass.
As the clearing emerged into his sight, the boy stepped more carefully over the branches protecting the clearing. A curious feeling washed over him as he stepped out into the light which illuminated his pale face within his clothing.
A few figures stood close together in the clearing, talking in quick hurried voices, glancing around now and again. With a start one of the wizards noticed his presence and hurried to join him.
“You found the clearing easily I see, Ivan” he said glancing down at him, looking for injuries. “I think there is something that you must see,” with that, he spun on the spot and motioned frantically to a small creature wearing an old black wrap, which squeaked and hurried over immediately.
“My house-elf,” he said quickly responding to Ivan’s raised eyebrows. The man held out his hand for something and the house elf obliged with a small vial.
“It seems,” he continued, “that the Dark Lord had left you something, Ivan. A memory, to be precise.”
