Qaz was ready to take her test. The first distance was 20 feet, which she’d done before. She closed her eyes, thinking to herself, ‘I will apparate into the hoop.’ She felt the now familiar ripple, opened her eyes and looked down. The hoop was right there where it belonged.

The second part was 60 feet, which she’d never done before, but knew the principle was the same…distance didn’t really matter. Nevertheless, she spent an extra minute calming herself. Destination, Determination, Deliberation. That’s all it took. She focused on the distant hoop, closed her eyes and concentrated ‘I WILL apparate into the hoop.’ She was almost afraid to open her eyes, but she knew she had done it. The little shiver through her body was almost a comfort now. She tilted her head, opened one eye and peaked at the floor. Sure enough, the hope was there.

She gave a little yelp and forgetting the others around her, started to do a little dance….for about 3 seconds.

She stood tall, walked over to the examiner and handed the examiner her parchment
