Chapter 1 - The Wedding

“Wotcher Harry! Happy Birthday mate,” Tonks said to Harry Potter, he was surprisingly calm to see me standing there, outside his bedroom window. It was Harry’s seventeenth birthday, and it was also time for him to go see the Weasleys. It was my job to make sure he got there safely.

As Harry let me in through the window he said, “Thanks, Tonks. Good to see you.” He was a man now, and he seemed to have that in mind every second of the day.

“Good to see you too, Harry. You’ve got you’re trunk packed?” Tonks asked looking around the room expecting to see everything thrown around it, like mine, but Tonks didn’t. Tonks took a closer look at Harry now; he was wearing a grey shirt and over-sized trousers tied to his waist. He looked a little more tired then usual.

“Yep. I’m ready.” Harry said to me in a weary voice. Maybe he was going to miss the Dursleys? No, that couldn’t be it. Harry hated the Dursleys, and Tonks can’t blame him. “Let’s go,” he said.

Tonks levitated Harry’s trunk for him and he walked into then out of the Dursleys living room looking just as bad as he did before. Tonks couldn’t say the same for the Dursleys, they were almost whooping in their seats as Harry opened the door and went outside.

Time for some fun! Tonks walked into the living room and all the Dursleys looked at me down their noses. Mrs. Dursley was a right snob, that’s for sure. Tonks didn’t think she liked it very much when Tonks turned into her with a pig nose. Maybe she did, Tonks didn’t know, the look of sheer terror on her face confused me.

“Hey, Harry! You feel okay?” Tonks asked as soon as I got out of the house. “You can tell me anything, you know? Anything Harry.”

“Anything?” Harry asked.

“Anything. Just call me your Guardian Angel. Doing my job ‘cause I love it.”

“Thanks Tonks.”

“Nothing on your mind right now?”

“Nothing.”

“Okay, then. Buckle up for the ride, mate!”

Tonks Disappirated then, glad to be done with that place, it was dragging me down, you know? After that weird feeling of being squished in a tube was done with, Harry and Tonks were back at the Burrow.

“Harry!” Molly shrieked. “Oh my! Look how thin you are! Don’t those people feed you anything?” Trust Molly. It’s always about the food.

“Oh I’ll worry about that later! There’s so much too do! My Bill’s getting married!” Molly cried and rushed off mumbling something about where all the other Weasley kids were. Probably hiding from their mother.

“Need some help, Molly?” Tonks asked her pulling a hand through my Muggle punk rock pink hair and taking a seat.

“Oh yes dear! That would be lovely! Just go outside and Arthur will tell you what to do!” Molly was cooking frantically, brandishing her wand around the kitchen. Knives were flying around, so were forks. Better get out of here before she accidentally impales me with them.

Tonks spent the rest of the day helping Arthur handle all the preparations, the poor man was almost pulling his hair out when she got there. Even Arthur can’t handle that much stress. Tonks helped out with the decorations as well, pink of course. That was Fleur’s choice. Had to tone it down a bit though, Fleur parents were screaming at me in French until she did.

We had a quick dinner that night. Harry seemed a bit better off now that he was around the Weasleys and Hermione. Remus was there too. He seemed a little tired too, and he seemed ravenous. All of the Order was there, except for Mundungus, Molly had put her foot down on that. If only Albus was there, he would have made the night perfect. We all had a place to sleep but it wasn’t exactly the most comfortable to be sleeping in a bubble pad in the Burrow’s entrance way for the night. A little over crowded, but I volunteered to be one of the people who did.

That whole night Remus avoided me. I planned to speak to him alone at the wedding the next day.

“Tonks dear, Tonks? TONKS!”

“Huh? What?”

Molly was tapping on the outer shell of my bubble pad and telling off George at the same time.

“Wake up dear! We need to start getting everything ready! Every one else is up! Well except for the girls-”

“Okay, okay Molly! I’m up! I’m up!” Tonks said rolling forwards in the circular ball suspended from the ceiling that I had conjured yesterday. As soon as she was gone though, she rolled backwards again. What? Tonks was tired!

“Tonks, it’s time. Molly’s coming back,” a voice said, it sounded a lot like Remus’ but slightly softer. I jumped up to look but he was already gone. That is-if it was Remus. I was up anyway.

Time went by quickly during the early morning. Every one was up for a change and we all helped out here and there. Soon the early guests started arriving though and Tonks decided that she would play host for a bit and welcome every one. Some people she had never heard of before ended up on the doorstep and she had to keep sending Arthur Patronuses to ask him if they were invited. Some weren’t a problem; they brought their invites and everything.

It wasn’t long before Tonks had to be called upstairs though to help Fleur with her gown and such. Frankly she thuoght Molly just wanted me to see what Tonks could be with Remus. She always did things like that-not that it didn’t help sometimes.

Fleur looked great. Tonks had to admit it. She was wearing a silver wedding gown, similar to what she had learned that Muggles wear, only there was something different to it. Something magical about the dress itself. Tonks didn’t mean anything sentimental, just magical. It didn’t have a veil or flower bouquets but it had a long train and almost shimmered in the dull light of the late afternoon. It looked nothing like what dress robes were, however.

Tonks thought that she might wear dress robes, maybe Bill would. Molly wouldn’t want to know what I would be wearing though. Bright pink dress robes. Platform heels and my punk rock hair again. I might change my face a little, a smaller nose...red eyes...maybe. Fleur’s a lot better now. Not too snob-like any more, she’s close to being normal.

“Eh, Tonks? Merci. It means thank you.”

“Oh. Then I guess your welcome,” Tonks smiled at her having absolutely no idea of what she was talking about. On the way down she changed into her robes and tried on her new nose and eyes. They looked wicked.

Tonks walked down stairs again and took a look at the crowd of people milling in the living room of the small house. She instantly found Arthur and tapped him on the shoulder to ask him why they were all stuck inside and he just replied, “You’ll see, Tonks.”

“Everyone!” Molly called suddenly and we were all ushered in to the back garden of the Weasleys’ home. It must have been magically enlarged and possibly been temporarily hidden to stop muggles from wondering down. Their yard was now large enough to be an altar and had a beautiful garden surrounding it. Tonks was ushered into a seat three rows back, behind all of the very close relatives of Bill and Fleur.

A few strands of music could be heard in the background, a little soft melody that everyone seemed to remember but did not know. She raised her eyes to where Bill was standing, he was wearing wizarding robes! His were black and he wore his favourite boots underneath, his dragon fang still on his ear. Tonks was surprised Molly didn’t rip it out yet.

Suddenly as all of the seats filled up and when they were no more guests to enter, the music rose like the volume dial had just been twisted. The melody was so familiar! If only she knew what it was!

With one last high pitched note, the music ended and a ripple of gasps cut through the crowd as three snow white owls were released. They had rose petals on their backs and in their beaks and claws and while they flew the petals fluttered to the ground and on to some of our faces. The music started again and a little girl with golden hair and blue eyes skipped along the little red carpet that was set out, Tonks thought her name was Gabrielle, Fleur’s sister. Gabrielle was singing the melody sweetly, but still loudly enough for us all to hear, as she threw flowers all around the seated guests. One she reached the end, she stood beside Bill and she became silent.

A slightly faster more extravagant tune sounded a few seconds after Gabrielle grew silent and a long row of gown-clad women walked hand in hand down the isle. Once again the owls flew over them shaking the rose petals over the bridesmaids. Once they had reached the end and in turn they took their place at the front of the altar everything grew silent once more. It began to rain petals, only this time the owls were not the cause, but a wizard in black dress robes at the back of the altar that must have been helping with the wedding.

There was a strip of white petals falling right over the isle as Fleur stepped out into the light. Her dress shimmering endlessly in the golden light, melding into the silver of the dress, Fleur walked-almost floated, down the isle to Bill and she stood facing him.

The actual ceremony was a bit less interesting, some might say dull but when the vicar pronounced them to be man and wife, Fleur stepped forwards, ran her fingers over Bill’s scared face and gave him a kiss. It was a fairytale wedding, if not, it was close. I was happy for him...for both of them.

We all wondered where the wedding reception was going to be until Arthur brought out an old car tyre told us that it was a port key. “I called in a favour...” he said as we all got a finger on it and where transported away with a nick of my collar.

We were all standing in some kind of field right in front of us they had put up a tent and when I turned around I saw Hogwarts castle. “Wicked! How did you get to do this?” Tonks asked and as if to answer my question, out popped Minerva McGonagall in her favourite red-coloured dress robes.

“Come in everyone!” she called us towards the tent where music was coming from.

“Let’s party!” Tonks screamed and leaped forwards and the whole crowd ran after me, pushing and pulling to be the first one in. She hopped into the tent and a grin appeared on my face. She just couldn’t help it! The Weird Sisters and every other Wizarding rock band that Tonks knew was lined up inside...paradise. Obviously that was Bill’s work.

Suddenly everyone came rushing through the opening all at once and rushed to the side of the different bands. Almost everyone was dancing and Tonks couldn’t stop myself from dancing as well. When I finally began to get bored a soft hand slipped into mine and she turned around, Remus was gently steering me away from the crowd. Grinning like an idiot, Tonks followed him happy to see that he was talking to me again.

“Tonks...I’ve realised something...” he began.

Tonks’ heart dropped. What else would that be about but some sort of Auror job or something?

“You didn’t talk to me since I brought Harry to the Burrow yesterday,” she said cutting him off almost sharply.

“I’m sorry, Tonks...I just had to think for a while...”

“What about?”

Remus sighed, his gorgeous eyes becoming slightly worried. “Well, Tonks....Will you marry me?”

Tonks squealed like a little girl and threw my arms around him. As his arms wrapped me in his embrace, Remus whispered into my ear, “So, is that a yes?”

“That’s a yes,” Tonks said pulling away slightly and then, she kissed him. She spent the whole night dancing.
