She figured that waiting for the opponent to cast their spell wouldn't work if you wanted to preemptively disarm them. "Why don't we both cast the spells at the same time, that way you can protect yourself in time and we can both get practice on the Shielding Charm?" Daphne asked Qaz. It seemed like a logical idea.

Daphne walked back to her position. "OK, on the count of three. One...Two...Three...Expelliarmus!" Daphne said as she did the appropriate wand motion.
