Technically technical all the time Bookaholic Kristi followed Dumbledore and two aurors down the narrow corridors of Azkaban prison. She felt as if the walls were closing in around her and that she would suffocate, then feeling was exasperated as she walked past two dementors. She shivered as the whispering voices in her head froze her insides. Dumbledore turned and placed a hand on her shoulder as the aurors undid the locks on the door she was now standing in front of. As it swung open to reveal a small and darkened room, Dumbledore gave her shoulder a little squeeze and a small push, indicating that she should enter.
Her breath caught in her throat as she walked inside and looked upon the large lump of black crouched in a corner. Kristi turned back to look at Dumbledore, who was looking very grave and gave her an encouraging nod as the door swung shut and locked. She was grateful that they were allowing her a private visit. Marcella had told her that she was forced to sit at a table surrounded by aurors. Kristi took a tentative step toward the lump that was her father. She crouched down as she neared him and laid a gentle hand upon his back. Snape had been listening to the screams echoing in his head when felt a slight pressure on his back. He looked up and saw… no, it couldn’t be her.. could it? The woman knelt beside him and his vision cleared. No, it wasn’t her… it was her daughter. As he came out of the dementor induced cloud of suffering, Snape pulled Kristi into a tight embrace, knocking her off her feet. He knew it was uncharacteristic of him and that he rarely hugged his daughter but, he had been clinging to anything familiar these days; be it a thought or something more tangible. He slowly let her go and managed a weak smile. Kristi’s face was contorted with worry and he could tell she was holding back tears. Kristi was shocked by the sudden show of affection. What was with people today? Her mind briefly flashed back to what had happened with Darrin before she focused back on her father. He did not look good at all and the hug he had given her was more than proof enough that he couldn’t stay in here much longer; he was losing himself. “We’re working on a plan to get you out. We’ve only got to sway a couple of votes and Marcella is confident that we can do it,” Kristi said, trying to sound as if she shared her friend’s optimism.
Something shifted in Snape’s face as she said Marcella’s name. “How is she?” he asked in a raspy voice.
“She’s…” Kristi paused to consider how to break the news; she had hoped that he had already begun to forget about her. “She’s taking your advice. I’ve seen her getting closer to Archie… They kissed.” Snape dropped his hands from his daughter’s arms as she spoke to him of Marcella. He knew he had told Marcella to forget about him and move on but, he had honestly believed she would wait for him. No, he wouldn’t think that she had betrayed him by even thinking about another man. Looking back up at Kristi, his head almost completely clear, he could see that she was pleased with this bit of gossip, and concluded that this must be some sort of scheme to drive him away from his love.
Despite the twinge of jealousy nagging at the back of his mind, intensified by the proximity of the dementors, no doubt, Snape looked up at Kristi and replied, “I do not think she would abandon me. But, I did tell her to move on and forget.”
Just as he was about to say more, the door to his cell opened and two aurors appeared to escort Kristi out. He reached up and gave her a fatherly kiss on her forehead before she got up and walked out.
