In her quest to secure the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, 14-year-old Socttish student Jennifer Heilbronn has
collected nearly 250 pairs of shoes for the needy, including donations from HP audio book narrator Stephen Fry and actor Dan Radcliffe.
Quote:
I managed to get the celebrity shoes as Stephen Fry went to school with my dad and he sent a pair of bright green monster slippers, and we have a family connection to Daniel Radcliffe — I was quite excited to get his shoes, as I do like the Harry Potter films.
Dan Radcliffe sent a letter to Jennifer along with his donation:
Quote:
When I was filming the third Harry Potter film, I knew I’d be going back to school before I started the fourth film. However, when it came to trying on my old school shoes, they were far too small for me.
Luckily the costume department on the Potter films were generous enough to give me the shoes I had worn in the movie and so the shoes I’m donating were Harry’s first and then mine. And Harry would like to apologise for any odour!
The shoes will be donated to
One Step Beyond which supplies charities in Africa and Asia with much needed shoes. You can see a picture of Jennifer with both pairs
