Erin eyed Professor Pride when she mentioned burning caterpillars, but once she realized that the woman was joking, Erin laughed along.
Once the professor asked a question, Erin raised her hand. "Because caterpillars are living creatures, so they are more difficult to transform. Therefore, it makes sense for older students to try transfiguring them, because the magic is more advanced. And matches, nonliving objects, aren't quite as hard to transform, so they'd be more suitable for younger students."
