Unfaithful

Hi everyone! My name is Erika and this is my first one shot Fan Fic. I am currently in the process of writing a full length fan fic called *Through It All* and decided to try a one shot Fan Fic just for fun…I was listening to this song the other day and thought that it would make a good story line…sorry if it’s depressing…but the actual song is depressing when you listen to it…

The story takes place during the trio’s last year at Hogwarts. Hermione and Harry have been dating for two years. She is caught between two men who love her and she doesn’t know quite what to do.
I hope you guys like it…

Unfaithful

Hermione stood in the common room watching Harry pace back and forth. He looked as if he was trying to decide weather or not to say something. She looked at her watch and looked back at Harry. She was late.

Story of my life
Searching for the right
But it keeps avoiding me
Sorrow in my soul
because it seems that wrong,
really loves my company

He's more than a man
And this is more than love
The reason that the sky is blue
The clouds are rollin' in
Because I'm gone again
And to him I just can not be true

Hermione sighed. “Harry, I have to go. I’ll see you later tonight.” she said as she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. Harry shrugged and gave a slight smile.

“Okay. I’ll see you later.” She began to walk away when Harry pulled her to his side once more, encircling her with his strong arms in a deep embrace. Hermione tried not to make eye contact for fear that he would realize where she was going. “I love you, Hermione,” Harry breathed, kissing her affectionately on the forehead. Then he released her and watched her turn away.

And I know that he knows I'm unfaithful
And it kills him inside
To know that I am happy with some other guy
I can see him dyin'

Hermione tried to ignore the searching look in his eyes as she turned once more to say goodnight.

“I’ll be a while. A girl in Hufflepuff needs me to tutor her in transfiguration. She’s hopeless.” Harry watched her so intently that she was sure he knew. It was no longer a secret. He knew and he still loved her. Hermione felt a sharp pain in her stomach. As she turned to leave she felt as if she were leaving him for good, and it hurt.

I don't wanna do this anymore
I don't wanna be the reason why
Everytime I walk out the door
I see him die a little more inside
I don't wanna hurt him anymore
I don't wanna take away his life
I don't wanna be...a murderer

Hermione walked out the door and winced as she recalled the look in Harry’s eyes. It was like she was slowly taking the joy out of his life. Every lie she told, every time she left she killed him a little more. She walked along the dark corridor quickly trying to leave behind the memory of Harry and the look that he gave her. She quickened her pace as she stepped outside and headed for the lake. There, under a tree, sat Ron. Hermione watched him as he sat against the tree throwing pebbles into the lake. He looked so sure of what they were doing.

Hermione took a deep breath and walked up to him. His look of impatience told her that he had been waiting for her. Their eyes locked and she could stand it no longer. Ron wrapped her in his strong arms and breathed in his strong scent. She could never put her finger on what he smelled like, but whatever it was, she liked it. She looked up into his eyes and was overcome by the feelings she had for him. Slowly Ron leaned down and pressed his lips against hers. Hermione felt as if she could hardly breathe. There was more passion in this one kiss than all the kisses combined that she had shared with Harry. Suddenly Hermione pulled back.

“What’s the matter?” Ron asked, his eyes searching hers. Hermione felt a tear roll down her cheek as she leaned in to Ron’s comforting embrace.

“Ron,” Hermione breathed, “Are we doing the right thing? What about Harry?” Ron held Hermione close and stroked her hair trying to comfort her.

“Mione, look at me. I love you. Nothing else matters.”

“How can you say that? Harry is your best friend. Don’t you feel any guilt?” Hermione asked looking up into his green eyes and allowing herself to become lost in them.

“Mione, he’s my best mate, but he has to face reality sooner or later. We’re gonna have to tell him eventually.” Hermione knew the truth. She would only hurt him more if she didn’t tell him, but it seemed so wrong.

“Let’s talk about this later,” Ron told her as he pulled her down to sit by his side. She allowed him to wrap his arms around her and hold her tight.

The hours passed. The sun had long since gone down, and yet there they sat, taking comfort in each other.

“I’d better go,” Hermione said at last. “Harry will start to worry. Ron reluctantly released her and stood to give her one last kiss.

“I love you,” he whispered, and then she turned and walked toward the castle.

She walked into the common room to find it deserted except for Harry. He had fallen asleep in an armchair near the fire. Hermione slowly walked over to him and kissed him gently on the cheek. His eyes fluttered open and he smiled.

“Long tutoring lesson,” he commented as he got up from the chair. Hermione looked at the ground to avoid Harry’s piercing look.

“Yeah, it was. I’m exhausted. I guess I’ll see you tomorrow,” she said as she leaned in to give him a quick kiss on the cheek. I’ll see you tomorrow.

The next morning was a Saturday, but Hermione woke early. She went into the bathroom to take a quick shower and put on her makeup for the day. She took her time, making herself look the best she could, brushing out her curls until they were silky and the light could be seen reflecting off of them. Her hair was no longer the curly mess that it had been in her first years spent at Hogwarts. It was now a beautiful mass of curly ringlets that fell to her shoulders and bounced when she walked.

Hermione took one last look in the mirror before finally heading down to the common room. There sat Harry staring into the flames of the fire waiting for her. He seemed to do that a lot these days. Harry looked up as he heard her come in and took in her beautiful figure. Hermione walked over to him and sat down in the chair opposite him.

I feel it in the air
As I'm doin' my hair
Preparing for another day
A kiss upon my cheek
As he reluctantly
Asks if I'm gonna be out late
I say I won't be long
Just hangin' with the girls
A lie I didn't have to tell
Because we both know
Where I'm about to go
And we know it very well

Harry took a deep breath and started, “So I was thinking that in Hogsmeade today we could go to this little tea parlor that I know about that is supposed to be the latest couple spot. What do you think?” Hermione gave Harry a sympathetic look.

“Oh, I promised Ginny and Lavender that I would hang out with them today. We were gonna have a girls day.” She knew that she wasn’t fooling him. He knew she wouldn’t be with the girls.

Cause I know that he knows I'm unfaithful
And it kills him inside
To know that I am happy with some other guy
I can see him dyin'

I don't wanna do this anymore
I don't wanna be the reason why
Everytime I walk out the door
I see him die a little more inside
And I don't wanna hurt him anymore
I don't wanna take away his life
I don't wanna be...a murderer

Hermione walked along the streets of Hogsmeade to the tea parlor nestled on a cozy little side street just off of High Street. The shop, decorated in pink, frilly lace and tacky décor was empty except for one occupant: Ron.
Hermione raced through the door and into his arms at the sight of him. He pulled her close and lightly pressed his lips against her. Hermione slowly parted her lips and deepened the kiss, taking in every moment of it. A flood of warmth rushed over her as she cleared her mind of everything except that moment.

Just then they heard the bell jingle announcing the presence of someone else. She felt Ron pull back and turned to see Harry staring in disbelief. Hermione felt her heart stop as she watched her boyfriend realize that it was not just some gut she was cheating with. It was his best friend.

“Harry, I’m so sorry,” Hermione breathed as she crumpled to the ground, tears rushing to her eyes. “I’m so sorry.” Ron looked at Harry and finally felt the guilt.

“Harry, I can explain.”

“Stay away from me!” Harry shouted, backing away. “I knew that she didn’t love me any more. I knew, but I never thought it would be with you. So much for friendship.” Harry turned to leave.

Our love ... his trust
I might as well take a gun
And put it to his head
Get it over with
I don't wanna do this...anymore

“Harry, wait!” Hermione called. Harry turned to look into the face of the woman he loved, the woman that had betrayed him.

Hermione slowly stood and looked between the man she loved and the man she gave her heart to. She had to choose, and there would be no going back.

I don't wanna do this anymore
I don't wanna be the reason why
And everytime I walk out the door
I see him die a little more inside
And I don't wanna hurt him anymore
I don't wanna take away his life
I don't wanna be...a murderer
I don’t want to be…

...a murderer
