Ok, this'll take some time. Where I ended is exactly where I'm stuck, and I thought 'heck, this'll make a good ending for THE FIRST PART'.
This is ONLY the first half. It's all I have and it's been a week so I just HAD to post something.
Here's part one! Part 2 (last part of the F.F), will be coming when I get unstuck!
Nothing that's really specific about this chapter. The title is as the chapter does...
If that made sense to you, WOW! I'm amazed cause I confuzzled myself with saying that I kinda get it but I kinda don’t... it sounded wise so I just put it in there
And I realized Final Goodbye is a song but whatever. It doesn't have anything to do with this...
Enjoy what's so far Chapter 18
The Final Goodbye (Part 1)
For the next week, the only reason Dezi would leave her room was go downstairs for food, bring it upstairs and eat. Other than that, she’d either be sitting in her bed reading or going through old photographs from when her parents were in Hogwarts to the ones Kasey and Cailyn took of her and Sirius on the last day of school.
Dezi didn’t even leave her room after awhile. She didn’t care about lunch or dinner for a few days. She’d fall asleep hungry and teary, but she didn’t care anymore. On the third day of starving herself, Dezi gave in and kept the food coming until she couldn’t hold anymore during dinner. Going back upstairs, she fell asleep on the bed. Dezi looked around the dark, open space. She couldn’t see a thing around her; only black. Out of thin air, there was fog, slowly condensing by her unmoving feet. She heard voice, but she couldn’t catch the words, let alone see whoever spoke. She heard the voices get closer to her; she backed up.
“So why’d you want to come again...?” she heard someone ask in an undertone.
“You do know it’d have been a lot safer if you just stayed...” a voice growled.
“Draco!” the voice snapped. Dezi dropped her guard; her tenseness disappeared.
“Oh don’t ‘Draco’ me,” Draco responded, just as snappishly. “I can say whatever I want.”
“It’s been so long since I’ve heard a Malfoy speak,” another voice drawled. Dezi swore she recognized it, but she didn’t know where she had.
“Don’t you dare,” Hermione, or so Dezi assumed, said warningly.
“‘Ey! Don’t tell me what to do!” Draco exclaimed. Dezi started seeing outlines in the distance (she didn’t know how far the area went out, so she also thought that was rather odd).
“You can ignore... and you can just keep your comments to yourself,” Hermione snapped.
Dezi was beginning to wonder why she was there. “Was I brought to listen to a stupid argument?” she thought.
She heard her father laugh in the distance.
“No, that’s not why!” he called out. She then heard him mumbling something. It was quiet for a few moments (or so Dezi thought, she couldn’t hear anything), and then she heard the voices. Quiet, but clearly.
“Now you remember how...”
“Dear girl, you’ve been through this at least 10 times,” the third voice commented. Draco sniggered. Dezi heard a thump and then a momentary groan.
“Well it’s true, you have been through it at least 10 times, if not more,” Draco pointed out.
Dezi sighed and leaned to her side, crossing her arms in impatience.
“Hey, she’s got your patience, Draco,” Hermione whispered just loud enough for Dezi to hear. She heard him scoff.
The outlines got bigger, but Dezi still couldn’t see the threes’ faces. She just realized she didn’t see their outlines as white, as she did last time. She heard Draco laugh again. Dezi decided to test if he was actually reading her mind or just guessing.
“I didn’t know you could read minds in the afterlife,” Dezi thought.
“Oh yes, it’s rather enjoyable actually,” the response came in her mind. She couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Everyone or did you just get lucky?”
“Well I did do a few things for...”
“Oh, quit it!” another voice, Hermione’s, came into Dezi’s head. “Yes, everyone can, it just depends on if you wish to use it.
“So what’re we all talking about here?” the third voice came in with a curious yet cheeky tone.
“But... if only those in the afterlife can do this... am I... dead?”
Draco and the other voice laughed. Hermione was the only one that didn’t seem to find it funny.
“Of course you’re not dead. When ‘those in the afterlife’ wish to meet with the living, you’re in between heaven and... Earth I suppose.”
“You mean we’re in Limbo?” Dezi cut in. Draco snorted.
“It’s an honest question, Draco,” Hermione snapped.
“As you put it... yes, we’re in Limbo...” Draco responded, still laughing.
“You didn’t even know what Limbo was until I told you,” Hermione cut him off with a slightly arrogant tone.
“Well you didn’t have to tell me,” the third voice imputed with a cheery tone.
“Ya, ya, you’re the only ‘pure’ that already knew.”
“Pure?” Draco spat (mentally).
“At least I could face the fact I didn’t belong in Slytherin, Malfoy,” the third voice retorted. “From what I heard you had think ‘Slytherin’ over and over to get your way.”
“What’d you have to do? Think ‘Gryffindor’ as hard as possible?” Draco snapped.
Dezi tried to tune out the argument, but she didn’t have a choice, it was going on in her mind. She had a feeling that she was right about only being brought to Limbo just to hear a stupid argument between her father and the other person.
“Shut up already!” Hermione yelled out loud. Her mind finally was rid of the voices.
“Traitor,” Draco’s voice said very quietly in Dezi’s mind.
“Why you little...”
“I can hear you!” Hermione exclaimed (out loud). “Honestly, you’d think freedom would help you sort out your priorities, Sirius.”
Dezi’s mind clicked. She couldn’t place the name of which the voice belonged to for the entire time.
“Oh that’s nice, just forget me,” Sirius drawled sarcastically.
“In my defense, over 20 years can change a person,” Dezi responded pointedly.
Hermione chuckled. “Actually in this case 20 years didn’t do much at all.”
“’Ey!” Sirius exclaimed.
“It’s just the truth, Black,” Draco responded with a smug tone.
“You didn’t even know me, Malfoy, and you still don’t. So don’t tell me its truth when you really don’t know it yourself.”
“I’m ‘learning’ now,” Draco drawled sarcastically.
Dezi yawned; the arguments were just getting old to hear.
“Ok one of you just leave,” Hermione snapped.
“But...” Draco and Sirius started complaining.
“No! It’s either that or you two just shut up,” Hermione cut in.
“I knew it wasn’t a good idea to...”
“Draco...” Hermione said in a low, deathly tone. He stopped automatically.
“I’m not going to be the one that goes,” Draco snapped indignantly. Hermione then turned to Sirius.
“I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but...”
“Youngest gets dibs?” Draco finished. Hermione pressed her lips into a thin line and turned to Draco with the angriest expression that she could burn a tree and the grass around it. (o.o.s: that’s the only comparison I could think of )
“We don’t have all day for this,” Hermione snapped.
“Technically it’s not exactly day...” Draco and Dezi started. Hermione looked at the two in disbelief and Sirius just chuckled. Draco turned to Sirius with a cold glare.
“What’s so funny?” he asked in a flat, dead serious tone.
“Just an attitude I recall,” Sirius responded dismissively.
Draco looked like he was about to lunge at Sirius, but Hermione held him in place (being fairly small, compared to Draco, she did manage to hold him).
“We’ll be back in a few minutes,” Hermione said in a calm tone. She then pushed Draco farther back into the darkness, leaving Sirius and Dezi alone. At that moment, Dezi lifted her foot to roll her ankles; she stood for so long they were cramping.
“You can sit down if you need to,” Sirius said after a moment.
“Where?” Dezi asked, looking around. If there was a bench there all along, how did she not notice it? She felt dizzy enough (from not eating much) she could’ve easily used the ground (if there is one for that matter), as a bench.
“Behind you,” he responded as if it was obvious. Dezi looked behind and below and, indeed, there was a bench. She chuckled in an embarrassed way as she sat down.
