Ravenclaw Chapter 9

The next day, Hermione woke up early. She creeped her way through dressing, and tiptoed downstairs. She got out a piece of parchment, left there last night, and hastily wrote:

Dear Harry,

I'm going for a walk. Be back in time for breakfast maybe.

Love,

Hermione

She placed the note in one of Harry's books left on the table, and left the Common Room. She opened the door, but the Fat Lady still gave a little squawk in her sleep.

Hermione crept down to the kitchens, where the house-elves were all hard at work, preparing today's breakfast. Dobby spotted her, and put down his tray.

"Miss Granger! What is yous doings here?"

"Business Dobby. Can you get a tray of breakfast food together for me?"

"Yes Miss Granger miss! Please, have a seats!" Dobby was off, and in a mere minute, had a large tray of eggs, toast, bacon, pancakes, and a tall glass of orange juice. Hermione smiled at all the food.

"Thanks Dobby."

"Whos is it's for?" Dobby inquired.

"A friend Dobby, he's sick." And she left with that. She brought the tray up to the Hospital Wing, and knocked on the door. Madam Pomfrey opened it with a slightly sleepy look.

"Miss Granger, do you have any idea what time it is?"

"Almost eight ma'am. I brought Draco some breakfast. So he wouldn't have to go all the way down to the Great Hall and get it."

"It mustn't be too far, Miss Granger. You managed to cross it ok." But she let Hermione in, and shut the door behind her.

Malfoy was sitting up in bed, looking thoughtful. He started when he saw Hermione.

"Granger...I was thinking about you."

"Save it Malfoy. I brought you breakfast, so please don't say anything mean to me."

"Mean? This looks terrific!" Malfoy stared unbelievably at the food. He dug in, ravenous. Hermione was suprised to find that she liked doing things for Malfoy. And that caused her to tentatively say his name.

"...Draco..." Malfoy snapped his head towards her, startled.

"What did you call me?"

"...Draco. I called you Draco."

"Why?"

"I...don't know. It just...seemed like a good idea at the time." Malfoy relaxed.

"Well then, I guess I must call you...erm, what's your first name again?"

Hermione sighed.

"Hermione." Draco slapped his hand to his forehead.

"Oh yea. Well, Hermione..." He stopped, and seemed to be straining. "...thank...you. I'll do something for you in return...one day. Can you visit me today? It's terrible being up here all alone."

Hermione pretended to think.

"Well, I'll see what limb I can break, ok?" Draco laughed.

"You got it. And Hermione....thanks."

Hermione smiled. "You're welcome." And she went downstairs to get her own breakfast.

Breakfast in the Great Hall was in progress when she arrived. HArry and Ron had saved her a spot.

"Enjoy your walk?" Harry asked, and put an arm around her.

"Very much so. I visited Dobby. He says hi."

"Oh, that's nice. DO you want to go and play Quiddich with Ron and I?"

"Oh, no thanks. I have...somewhere to go."

"Oh." Harry said, clearly disappointed. Ron rolled his eyes.

"C'mon Harry, lighten up. You don't want her to see me beat you, do you?"

Harry and Ron got into an arguement, but Hermione could have sworn...she saw Ron give her the tiniest bit of raised eyebrow.
