Default Lips Of An Angel - Sa13+
Foreign Intrigue

It was midnight in London. The streets were bare of cars and pedestrians, the lights of late night diners and night clubs were on and flashing brightly, and most respectable apartments had their lights off as the owners were asleep. Well, all were except one. In the dowtown of London one window of a ritzy apartment building still shone with a dull glow.
Draco Malfoy sat in an easy chair staring at the fireplace. He couldn't sleep, he felt restless, like something was about to happen. His girlfriend Marie was asleep in the next room. Sometimes, he pictured that it wasn't her. Sometimes he thought chocolate brown eyes were looking at him instead of Marie's hazel ones. Sometimes he pictured long brown curls instead of Marie's soft black hair. Sometimes he pictured an entirely different person, not Marie.
Suddenly, the sound of ringing broke the silence in the apartment. It was almost unbearable to hear after so long without so much as peep. Draco quickly snatched the mouthpiece up and covered his mouth his hand to muffle his voice. His eyes briefly darted to the bedroom and he saw that Marie was still sleeping soundly.
"Hello?" he asked.
"Draco?" asked a soft tear-filled voice on the other end.
"Hermione? Is that you?" he asked in disbelief. "It's late, what's going on?"
"I need to talk to you," she replied sounding like she was crying.
"Hermione, this is not the best time, I can't talk now. But, wait, are you crying? Is everything okay?"
"I just need to talk to you," she said.
"Marie is just a room away, I have to talk quietly," he answered her. He loved to hear her voice. "Sometimes, I wish it wasn't Marie in there," he thought to himself.
"Draco...I miss you," she said snapping him back to the conversation on the phone. The way she said his name was so amazing...so different from how anyone had ever said it before.
"I miss you too, Hermione," he muttered sadly. "I guess we still care about each other, eh?"
"Yeah," she said. "I guess so."
"But I care about Marie," he continued wishing he hadn't said that. "I can't leave her."
"I know," she responded sounding even saddened.
"It's hard to move on," Draco said wanting to comfort her more than anything in the world. "And you made it hard for me."
"For me too," replied Hermione uttering a long sigh. "Listen, Draco, I'll let you go now. Goodbye."
"Goodbye...Hermione," he said, but he already heard a click on the other end signaling she had hung up. Numb, Draco sank back into his chair and closed his eyes. Hermione's face played before his eyes.
Morning came. The sound of early morning traffic and the bell of the elevator in the aparment building could be heard. Here in the apartment, Marie was cooking breakfast while Draco was getting ready for work.
"Honey, are you okay?" asked Marie looking up him during their meal. "You don't seem yourself today."
"I'm fine," he answered curtly biting into a piece of toast. "She has no idea," he thought.
He left the apartment at a quarter to eight. Draco walked briskly down the sidewalk, not paying attention to what he was doing or who was coming toward him. She was on his mind. He couldn't give in, he loved Marie. "But I love Hermione even more," he said to himself. "That's it!" He broke into a run for the nearest flower shop.

A knock aroused Hermione from her coffee. Like Draco...she had been a zombie that morning also. She could not get him off her mind. She walked over to the door and slowly opened it. She couldn't believe her eyes. Six feet tall, platinum hair, grey eyes, it was really him.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"Looking for an angel," he replied pulling a dozen roses from behind his back. "Looks like I found one."
Hermione's dreams had come true as he embraced her into a hug. "I love you," he whispered in her ear.
That was all. Fate found its way as Draco and Hermione were reunited...again.

This one-shot was insprired by the song "Lips Of An Angel" by Hinder. I hope you enjoyed it.
