“What was your favorite subject?” Ginny leaned against the table eagerly. Tonks considered the question over her Christmas pudding.

“I want to say Defense, but I had dreadful teachers. I suppose a good teacher would make all the difference.” She glanced at the flame-haired girl next to her. “What’s yours?”

“Defense for me, but I’ve had an amazing teacher,” Ginny nodded down the table at where Harry and Remus leaned in to discuss something with Sirius. “Brings the subject alive. Explains things thoroughly. Dead handsome too.”

Tonks took a bite of pudding. “I do envy you that,” she said quietly.
