Ok, depite how I could've posted last night, I didn't, but I"m gonna post now, so yeah, here's the 4th chapter. In my opinion, it's short (but just wait til I get to chapter 7, I'm gonna have to break it up to get the whole thing posted). Wasn't sure about this one spell used in this chapter, so I kinda made it up.
But yeah, enjoy

Chapter 4
The Ferret

Hermione was silent in class the next day. She was still trying to decipher why Draco kissed her. She couldn’t get the sensation off of her lips whenever she really thought about it. She didn’t tell anyone about what happened, not even Ginny, her best friend.
She felt somewhat awkward when she went into the common room. She finally got the password right though, and remembered it. The next time the two of them went patrolling, they were on the top floor, and they didn’t say a word to each other; neither knew what to say, if anything. At one point, Hermione said she swore she heard someone moving on the other side of the floor and went in the opposite direction. She patrolled that side the rest of her hour.

“You’re... quieter Hermione, what’s up?” Ginny asked when she caught Hermione.
“Nothing’s wrong, why do you ask?”
“I never said anything was wrong...” Ginny responded, eyebrow raised. Together, they went to have breakfast, meeting up with Harry and Ron. For the past few weeks, Hermione still got that feeling she was being watched, so this time she looked around to see who it was. She didn’t catch whoever it was.
She went back to eating and talking with her friends. As she took another piece of toast, she got that feeling again and looked up. She locked eyes with Draco Malfoy. They kept a steady gaze at one another for a few moments.
“Whatcha lookin at ‘Mione?” Ron asked, food stuffed in his mouth.
Hermione tore her gaze away from Malfoy. “Nothing.”
The bell rang, telling everyone they had a few minutes until they had to get to their first class. Ginny separated from the three of them, and Harry, Ron and Hermione started heading to their Care for Magical Creatures class. After that, they ran to Transfiguration class. Hermione just stepped inside the class as the bell rang.
“Potter, Weasley, Granger, late,” Professor Kruliki said in a bored voice.
“But...” Hermione started.
The professor gave her a cold look.
“Yes, Head Girl?”
Hermione glared ever so slightly and took a seat. Harry and Ron sat in the open chairs behind her, knowing full well that they’d end up getting moved eventually.
“Potter, Weasley, you should know where you sit by now,” Professor Kruliki said in monotone, waving his hand as if it was nothing.
Harry and Ron got up and went in opposite directions to the desks they were sent to on their first day. The professor started with the lesson; how to turn humans into an animal of choice, and back again.
“Uh.... Weasley, you demonstrate!” Professor Kruliki called on Ron. His eyes widened, mouth slightly dropped as he stood up.
“Get up here!” the professor snapped.
Ron feebly walked up to the front of the classroom in front of the dummy.
“Now, picture what animal you want the dummy to turn into and say Transifguri and then the animal of your choice.”
Ron regained his composure, now standing tall, yet normal. He started thinking of an animal. He grinned when he got an idea.
“Got it?” the professor asked.
Ron nodded and pointed his wand at the dummy.
Transifguri ferret,” Ron said quietly, yet clearly.
The dummy dwindled in size until it became a ferret. When Draco saw it, his eyes widened slowly. Ron kept his wand on the ferret. He moved the wand around to where he wanted the ferret to move. He got it to jump up onto Draco’s desk and onto his head. Draco started waving his arms in attempts to get it off.
Everyone was laughing, they all heard, some even saw, the story of when ‘Moody’ turned Draco into a ferret in fourth year.
“Get it off! Get it off!” he yelled, still flailing around.
“Mister Weasley, would you kindly remove your rodent from Mister Malfoy’s head?” Professor Kruliki asked in a bland way.
“Fine.”
Crabbe was grabbing for the ferret, but it ended up jumping on his face. Crabbe grabbed it off of his face and chucked it at Ron. When he threw it, the ferret turned back into a dummy mid-air. It came hurtling at Ron, knocking him to the floor. Everyone laughed.
They went through the rest of the lesson with everyone trying out the spell. Draco got back at Ron by turning it into an enlarged spider and having it dance on his head.

“Well I’m off to do homework, I might up with you guys later,” Hermione called to Ron and Harry.
“See you later!” they called back, knowing they wouldn’t see her until tomorrow.
Hermione went up a couple flights of stairs and stopped at the painting of a man sitting in a chair in a wide open field, his horse grazing beside him.
“Password?”
“Pestanomai.”
The door swung open and revealed an open common room. Hermione dropped her books onto the table and took one of them out of the pile, starting on her Potions essay. When she was almost done, the entrance door to the common room swung open. Draco came inside. Hermione didn’t take her eyes off her work, but she saw his blonde hair out of the corner of her eye.
“It’s rude to stare,” Hermione said in a matter-oh-fact way, knowing full well Draco was watching her work as he passed through.
“Arithmacy?” Draco noticed Hermione’s Arithmacy book sitting on top of a pile of other books. He picked it up and flipped through the pages.
She looked up from her now finished essay.
“It’s a fun subject,” she said, shrugging. She put her Potions book down on the floor, essay on top of it.
“Right...”
He put the book back down and started heading towards the staircase leading towards his dorm.
“How long?” The question slid off of Hermione’s tongue.
Draco stopped at the bottom of the stairs.
“What?”
“How long?” Hermione repeated.
“How long what?”
“Unless you for some reason had a cramp in your back and had to stretch that and your mouth, there’s got to be a reason why you kissed me.”
Draco stood silently. He shifted uncomfortably on the spot. He wanted to respond, say anything, but it didn’t come out.
“Did you stage everything?” Hermione asked, staring at the back of Draco’s head.
He slowly shook his head in a silent no.
“Anything?”
He shook his head.
“No pre-planned events or anything else?”
He shook his head.
“Are you planning on saying anything yet?”
He shrugged. Hermione couldn’t help but grin at his ‘response’.
“Fine,” she shrugged, flipping her Transfiguration book open. She started reading, every few sentences stopping to write down anything she found interesting or important.
Hermione glanced up after she finished reading a paragraph in the book. Draco still there. She heard him sigh, and he went up the stairs to his dormitory. She shook her head and went back to work.
