Knitting Charm

The wind was howling outside, blowing the snow in gusts. Hermione shivered as she pressed her hand against the frosty window. Down below on the grounds, she could see Draco struggling in the snow accompanied by Crabbe and Goyle.

Draco was freezing. Why did he even decide to come down for a walk? He could blame it on Professor Sprout, who insisted he visit her in the greenhouse to have a ‘talk’. This suggested a subject anything but pleasant.

Perhaps the house elves could spare a hat or scarf, Hermione thought as she placed another knitting charm on a green and silver colored ball of yarn. Eyeing the colors thoughtfully, she decided what she should do.

When the scarf and hat were finished (they looked quite decent compared to her previous rudimentary style) she wrapped them in brown paper and paid a visit to the owlery, where she sent an owl to give Draco Malfoy the package. Once she got back to the common room, she was suddenly uncertain whether Draco would like the hat; it was slightly lopsided.

Clearly he had received the gift because the next day, Hermione saw him sporting a knitted scarf under his black robes.
