“Hey, Mudblood, how do you see with that bush around your face?” A scoffing voice reached Hermione’s ears. Malfoy.
She pursed her lips and ignored his jibe, pretending to find a book in her bag. For once, she was glad for her poofy hair; at least it covered the pink patches that had just appeared on her face.
“Leave her alone, Malfoy,” Ron growled, giving a step towards the Slytherin sixth year.
Draco sighed, leaned back in his desk, and idly picked at a nail. “What’s the wizarding world being reduced to? Poor wizards defending Mudbloods…it’s sad, really.” He arced a high eyebrow in Hermione’s direction. “Or should I even call you a wizard, Weasel? You look more like—“
Ron balled his hands into fists and dropped his bag to the floor, but before he could beat the life out of Draco, Hermione interrupted.
“You know what?” she snapped, turning to face Draco, her cheeks blazing. “I know the Avada Kedavra is an unforgivable curse, but sometimes I’m this close”—she parted her index finger and thumb half an inch apart—“to performing it on you.”
Draco sneered. “Like I believe that, Granger.”
“Azkaban is worth it,” she retorted.
