"Nightmare"
I opened my eyes
To find night had come
And I lay in bed
Tired and numb
Like an empty shell
Dazed and confused
My old loving smile
Is now drunk and abused
And yet no tears do I shed
My heart has turned cold
It has weathered away
With my now tattered soul
I hear the wind blowing
Even it mocks my pain
Calling out sorrow
As I called your name
No can see this
Forthey are asleep
Content with their distance
In soft slumber deep
So I lie here alone
Afraid and unsure
Remembering your smile
And your gentle allure
I drift off to sleep again
Knowing when I awake
I will paste on a smile
And still try to shake
This dark premonition
That has become a religion
Ever since I doubted your love.
