"Still Autumn Dawning"
The sun rises up
A crayon box red
With water colour swirls
Of golden light
The light smell of kindling
Hangs in the air
The rustling leaves
Whisper secrets of
The summer passed
As the wind blows sharp
Across the water
Crystal frost
Clinging to windows
Reflecting the green-brown lawns
Pumpkin brown
Piles of leaves
Burgandy and brittle
Tumble over sidewalks
As the mist of the morning
And the frozen frost of the night
Lift off the small town
Just now awaking
Preparing to great
The dull foggy sunshine
But there is nothing as quiet
Nothing as peaceful
As watching the sun
Kiss the rose-fingered dawn
Two lovers walk home
Wrapped in a blanket
And the stillness of the Autumn departs
