JK influenced by Football Star

Writer Alek Popov has suggested that Bulgarian mega football star Hristo Stoichkov may have inspired JK Rowling for the creation of the Bulgarian quidditch team in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. In Popov's words JK Rowling might have seen the Bulgarian national football team that occupied fourth place at the World Football Cup in 1994. Krum is described as "thin, dark, and sallow-skinned, with a large curved nose and thick black eyebrows," a look that matches Hristo Stoichkov appearance, Popov said.

The Bulgarian team is supported by Veela described as "the most beautiful women Harry had ever seen" and these creatures according to Popov match the typical Bulgarian wood-nymphs.
