The Mission

Hermione pulled her bag closer to her as she hurried from Hogsmeade, a box of Cockroach Clusters inside. They looked disgusting and she was glad she wasn't the one eating them. She quickened her pace.

One might've asked why Hermione Granger would even bother buying a birthday present for Vincent Crabbe. But no one would know it was from her, and hopefully no one would detect that the candies were laced subtly with Veritaserum.

With graduation looming, this was her last chance to trick Crabbe and Goyle into disclosing Draco Malfoy's location. The Order and Harry were counting on her.
