Chapter 5: Sirius's News

After 30 long seconds of silence Sirius spoke up. "Well, you guys obviously heard me....... so what do you think?" he asked worriedly.

"Ahhhhh-" stuttered Remus.

"Well-" Camey started.

"But how? You guys aren't married!" James said in a shocked voice.

"Honestly James!" Lily exclaimed.

"Way to state the obvious!" Camey replied.

"Are you serious?" Remus asked. "You honestly don't know what happened?"

"How do you think you two ended up with Harry?" Sirius snickered.

"Well, actually Moony, he is Sirius, not me." Everyone groaned (this pun was getting old!) He added, "Anyway, I'm sorry...... I....we were just shocked."

After a few paused moments, 'CONGRADULATIONS' rang from the rest of the room; Sirius and Violet were delighted.

Sirius and Remus went to the kitchen, to talk with James, about fatherhood. Meanwhile, the women were taking care of Harry, in the nursery. Violet picked Harry up and started to rock him.

"Oh Lily, think I will be a terrible mother!" asked Violet worriedly.

"Violet Elizabeth Anderson! Don't say such things! Look at you with Harry; he adores you! Why would you ever think that you would be a terrible mother?" Camey demanded.

"Camey, don't be too harsh on her!" Lily said, in a motherly way. "She is just nervous."

"Vi, listen," Lily said calmly. "Before I had Harry I was a nervous wreck; don't you remember? I was so scared and overwhelmed; but now, I don't know, you just get the hang of things. Honestly, you have nothing to worry about."

"Oh, Lily, you are right,” Vi said.

“Are you kidding?” Camey snickered. “She is always right! When have you ever known Lily to be wrong?”

Violet smiled. “I'm sure I'll be fine," Violet reassured herself. "Hey Camey, you have never actually held Harry! Would you like to?"

"Umm-" Camey replied, "I have never held a baby."

"What?" They both replied; Camey shrugged.

"Never mind," Lily said. "It's not that difficult. Just put one hand here, to support his back; and the other goes here, to support his head," directed Lily.

"Hey, guys! We should owl Peter!" Remus said.

"Oh, but why? He always spoils the fun!" Sirius replied.

"Padfoot! He is our friend!" Remus said in outrage.

"Yeah, Padfoot, listen to Moony! He is always right!" James said sarcastically.

"Fine, we'll just tell him later," Remus replied, giving up. "But, you know, I think us leaving him out has had a strange effect on him. He hasn't been around much lately."

"Cool! Now we don't have to deal with him!" Sirius answered.

"So, Sirius, how to you feel about becoming a father?" Remus asked, changing the subject.

"Actually, I'm terrified," he replied.

"Oh, not to worry Padfoot. We'll help you with the baby." James offered.

"No, James! No sane person would ever leave a baby in your hands! You'd bore it to death with talk of Quidditch!" Sirius said.

"Ouch!" was the next thing out of Sirius's mouth, because James had smacked his head with a pillow.

"Oh, I'll get you Potter!" Sirius yelled as he chased James with a frying pan.

Remus decided to watch the chaos from the next room.

Deciding to leave the madness, Remus journeyed into the nursery. Vi and Lily had ventured to the kitchen to make dinner, but he found Camey rocking Harry, and looking at him longingly.

"Camellia! NO!" Remus said sternly, although he was sporting a small smile.

"Oh, but Remus! I want one!" Camey replied with a puppy dog look on her face.

Remus chuckled as he put Harry back into his crib. "No! At least not now; I don't think it is safe to bring a baby into this world. Not with Voldemort taking over in Britain. But one day dearest, we will have a little girl or boy of our own."

Camey placed Harry back in his crib, and stood looking out of the window; Remus came up and gave her a hug, from behind.

"Promise Remus?" asked Camey.

"Yes, I promise, but we should probably get married first." Remus replied.
