Chapter 3: What Friends are For

After a week in the hospital, James, Lily, and Harry returned to their house in Godric’s Hallow. They were greeted by Remus, Camellia (Remus's girlfriend), Sirius, and Violet (Sirius's girlfriend) outside the door. Lily, Camellia, and Violet had been nicknamed the flowers at school by the marauders.

James, Lily, and Harry were ushered into the house. It was spotless, and filled with gifts for the baby!

"Thank you!" Lily exclaimed as she entered the living room, "This was so nice of you, but you know- you really didn’t have to-"

“Nonsense!” Violet said. “It was the least we could do.”

"Yeah, it really was nice of us, wasn’t it?" Sirius replied, "So, in return for us breaking our backs cleaning, why don't you make your world famous cheeseburgers?"

"Shut up, Sirius!" Camellia exclaimed, as she punched him in the arm. "What work did you do?" she inquired. "If I remember correctly, it was Violet and I who cleaned the entire house while you and Remus sat on the couch marveling at Lily's old, muggle board game!"

"And you two boys don't deserve anything after what you did! We are never going to forgive you for not telling us that Lils was in labor!" Violet stated.

Lily jumped in, trying to prevent a major fight, "Honestly, I don't mind making dinner-"

But Camellia cut her off. "Nope," she replied, "you are not doing any work for the next month."

"What? What are you talking about?" Lily asked.

Violet then took over, “It’s stressful enough, I’m sure, taking care of James-"

Lily nodded.

“Hey! I resent that!” James exclaimed.

Vi continued as if there had been no interruption, “- but a baby is going to be 10 times the work, so we are all staying here to help you out.”

"We love you Lil. You are always there to help us out, so we are returning the favor." Remus said.

"Hey! Moony! No making moves on my wife!" James said jokingly, and they all laughed.

Lily's eyes filled with tears, as she laughed.

“Oh here come the mood swings!” James mumbled.

"Thanks guys!” Lily exclaimed. “I don't know what I'd do with out you!" She sobbed as she pulled all five of them into a hug.

"Hey Lily, that's what friends are for!" Sirius said. "Now, how about those cheeseburgers?"

"Sirius shush!" Violet said firmly.

"But I’m HUUUUUNNNNGGGRRRYYY!" Sirius whined.

Camey said, "Sirius, Vi and I will start making dinner in a minute."

"But I'm hungry now! I don't like your cooking!" Sirius continued to whine.

Camey turned to James. "How do you make him shut up?" she asked.

"I know how," Violet said with a misgevious glint in her eye. She walk over to Sirius, pulled him close to her, and kissed him vigorously. Sirius made a gesture that asked James if he and Vi could go upstairs. James nodded his head.

"I don't think he's hungry anymore," Camey said, and they all smirked.

"Do you remember when we were like that James?" Lily asked.

"Of course, dear" he answered, “We were like that last week.”

Remus snickered.

Then James said to the room at large, "I hope they’re careful."

"What do you mean James?" Remus asked.

"I mean if they are going to keep going on like that.... well.... let's just say, that's how Lily and I ended up with Harry." James and Remus exchanged knowing smirks.
