Clair gave him a half smile. She wandered up and down the hall, pondering which horse to choose. She finally came across a chestnut, who was hanging its head over the stall door. "Hey!" she said, coming over to lightly stroke the horse's muzzle.
"If you don't mind, I would like under my chin scratched..." the horse replied, lifting up his head.
Clair took a step back, not yet used to the fact that all the animals talked. "Sure..." she said, smiling as she began to scrath the horse under his chin. "How's that?" she asked, beginning to smile.
"Fine, fine...so, did you want to ride me with King Peter?" he asked, his eyes closed. "Oh, my name is Lance," he said, one eye opening slightly.
Clair smiled. "Nice to meet you Lance!" she said. "My name's Clair," she said, as he opened the stall door.
Lance stepped out and shook himself. Clair smiled and then laughed. "Would it be okay if I just used a bridle?" she asked. "I think I'm holding King Peter up..." she said, glancing out toward the opening.
Lance bobbed his head up and down. "Sure, you know how to ride right?" he asked.
Clair smiled. "Its almost like I was meant to be born in the saddle!" she said, quickly slipping on the bridle and tightening the straps. "Well, here we go!" she said, quickly mounting up gracefully.
She urged Lance to trot and she came out beside Peter. "Sorry it took so long! You can't leave a horselover alone in a barn full of horses!" she said with a laugh.
