Technically technical all the time Bookaholic Professor Branxton nodded and smiled as the students brought up some good ideas and seemed enthusiastic. "Actually, several people have already hit on the heart of the issue. Phoenix tears are very expensive and hard to come by. The reason we dilute them out and use them in potions rather than using them straight up is so that you can extend the use of the tears. One drop will do for a small wound on one person but, that same drop added to some potions will suffice to treat many people, even though the effect won't be quite as strong," Professor Branxton explained. "Since they are so expensive, they are only used in potions at St. Mungo's for the most serious of injuries, usually related to hexes or curses where ordinary healing potions have shown no effect."
"Now, I think it's about time we started our potion so, I'd like everyone to take out their cauldrons and add 200mL corn oil. Then, add 10 mallow stems with the leaves still intact. Make sure the mallow is submerged in the oil and leave it to steep at room temperature. Any questions so far?"
