Professor Fox looked around the class, dissapprovingly in some cases, and was about to answer Alex's question but then noticed the time. "Excuse me Ms. Kay, I'll answer you after class." He then straightened himself out more (if that was possible) and addressed the class.
"First of all, welcome to Arithmancy. This is a difficult class, but my students seldom dissapointed me last term, and each and every one of you will learn this subject well enough to do Hogwarts proud. Many of you will have difficulty, as the material is quite advanced, but if you work hard each and everyone of you should get at least an 'E' on your OWLs. If you have questions, see me after class and as always, please consult your upperclassmen, no offense intended ladies.
"Now then, we will begin somewhat early to get the brief review out of the way for most of you newer students." He flipped a page of his notes then re-examined the class. "Now then, if you would, Ms. Kay, Ms. Harrison, or Ms. Agoobwah, could you please tell the class the characteristics of numbers that you recall from last term."
