This is a longer post than the others; I hope you enjoy it!

“Let’s go,” I suggested quickly.

We headed down the street slowly. I stuck my hands in my pockets, not knowing what to do. My mind was floating in the clouds and my heart was fluttering madly. Does Oliver feel the same? I wondered. He appeared to be quite calm. His way of walking seemed the same as ever.

“Is there anywhere you want to go?” He asked, fixing his eyes on me.

I shrugged. “No where particular.”

“Good,” he replied with a grin. “I have somewhere to go that you might find cool.”

I walked beside him into a small café type of store. Many couples were bent over the small tables, talking quietly. A charming aroma lingered in the warm air.

We claimed a table in the corner of the café. A young waitress soon came over to take our order. She pushed back tendrils of hair that kept falling into her round, jolly face. “What can I get for you?”

“Butterbeer?” Oliver asked me. I agreed, so he requested two butterbeers.

After the waitress had drifted off with our purchases, Oliver leaned back in the wood chair. His eyes penetrated mine. They seemed to be reaching out to me…

Blushing, I glanced away, only to observe other couples holding hands and kissing softly. An uncomfortable feeling came upon me. This place was so—different—from all the places I’d visited in Hogsmeade.

“So…how are you doing?” Oliver inquired somewhat awkwardly. His hands fidgeted on the tabletop.

“Pretty good. I can’t complain. How about you?” I tried hard not to make my voice shake.

“Life’s fine. Our first Quidditch match is coming up in the next month, so I’m really looking forward to that. Harry does seem a bit ‘out of it’, if you know what I mean. It’s probably due to Sirius Black escaping and all.” Oliver paused for a moment to catch his breath.

A slight shiver ran up my spine. Talking about criminals always had that effect on me. “No kidding,” I agreed. “I hope that this year won’t end up like the last. After all, it is our final year here.”

He bobbed his head. We were quiet for a while. After a few minutes, the butterbeer came. Oliver swiftly took out some coins from his pocket to pay. “It’s on me,” he explained with a lop-sided grin.

After we’d finished our butterbeer, we looked outside, where the wind had picked up. Dashing out of the shop, we pulled our hoodies on. I tried to tame my hair (unsuccessfully) since it was billowing around my face, limiting my vision.

“Do you think we should go back now?” Oliver asked over the howling wind. The streets were nearly deserted; most students had decided to leave.

I nodded as I pushed my hair back. We sprinted towards Hogwarts with the cold nipping at our heels. The wind was continuously gathering more and more strength.

“Come on, before the rain comes,” Oliver shouted over the howl of the gusts of wind. He grabbed my hand and I picked up my pace.

I couldn’t help but feel tingling in my hand as he held it. His was warm and strong. My heart thumped in sync with my footsteps. I could tell that he wasn’t even running; he was jogging because I couldn’t keep up with his long strides that could only develop by playing Quidditch for years on end.

We reached Hogwarts just before the rain started to patter on the pavement. Soon it was pelting down on the roof, drenching the unfortunate people who were still outside.

Once we were inside, Oliver let go of my hand and we pulled off our hoodies; it was much warmer in here. “Should we go back to the Gryffindor common room?” He inquired.

Nodding, I ran a hand through my hair to make it appear normal after the wind had made it a complete mess. Our steps were slow and careless as we made our way to the common room. I subconsciously kept glancing at his hand, silently hoping that it’d reach for mine.

He walked me to the door of my room. Uncertain of what to do, I turned to him. “Thanks for the fun time.” My lips formed into a timid smile.

Oliver grinned broadly and, for a moment, looked down. “No problem. We should do it again sometime.” He edged close enough to me that I could smell his strong fragrance.

I fixed my eyes on his face, not wanting to look away. Our eyes locked for a few moments. “Uh, I’ve got to go now,” he muttered, pink in the face. He reached over and gave my hand a squeeze before waving and descending the stairs.
