A short post:

Taking a deep, shaky breath, I told myself to calm down. Laying down, facing the ceiling, I planned out my apology.

The creaking of a door opening interrupted my thoughts. Leanne silently strolled in, clearly acting as if I weren’t there. Turning on my side, I viewed her as she slowly sank onto her bed with her back facing me. She didn’t make a sound.

Apologize, a small voice in my head commanded. I shook my head. Apologize to her! Squeezing my eyes shut, I muttered, “I’m sorry,” through grinding teeth. I was right. I had too much pride within myself.

“That’s okay, I guess,” Leanne told me rather sullenly. Clearing her throat, she added, “I shouldn’t have told you off like that.”

Re-opening my eyes, I whispered, “I deserved it. I’m such an idiot.” Tears threatened to spill over my eyes, but I controlled myself.

My friend turned around to face me. “Forget about it, okay? We’ll just move on.” She forced a smile, which I returned in relief.

That night, I slept relatively well. I’d gained my friend back—for the time being, anyway.

The next update will be this weekend!
