| Yeah, basically theyre trying to make them jealous. Here's the showdown: Chapter 14
Later in the day, Harry found Ginny in the hallway and told her to meet him in the astronomy tower at eight o’clock that night. Ginny was eager to find out why, but Harry told her it was a surprise. Ginny went to all her classes, but couldn’t think of anything but what Harry could possibly want with her in the astronomy tower.
Harry passed Hermione a note during Potions that said, “Hey, can you help me with this homework later? Meet me in the astronomy tower at 8:15.” Hermione showed the note to Draco when he asked, and Draco wanted to come along and join the study group. Hermione was about to ask Harry when the class ended and everyone went their separate ways to go to other classes.
*7:45*
Harry hurried up the stairs to the astronomy tower, going over the plan in his head.
Ginny came from a detention from Professor McGonagall, hurrying along the corridor.
When they finally met at the room at the top of the astronomy tower, they both blushed at the fact that they were hurrying to meet one another. Harry grabbed Ginny’s hand and pulled her inside, shutting the door behind them.
“Harry, what are we doing here?”
“I have a plan.”
“Want to tell me what it is?”
“Ok, Hermione is meeting me here to help me with my potions homework, or so she thinks. What will really happen is she’ll walk in on us making out.”
“And that will help how?”
“She’ll get jealous that I’m kissing you instead of her.”
“Oh so then she’ll break up with Draco and go out with you, and I’ll get to go out with Draco!”
“Exactly.”
Harry pulled Ginny over to a window seat and sat down. She sat down next to him, anxiously fidgeting with her shirt hem.
“So we uh…”
“Should we…?”
“Um, yeah…”
They were both blushing and darting glances at one another, neither wanting to make the first move. Finally Harry decided that waiting was wasting time and so he leaned over and kissed her. Ginny was surprised, but soon lost all sense of time and where she was. All she knew was Harry, and that was all she cared about.
When Draco and Hermione walked in the door, Harry and Ginny were so caught up in each other they didn’t even notice until Draco cleared his throat loudly. Harry unglued himself from Ginny and looked up. Ginny blushed a deep crimson and looked away.
“Where we…interrupting something?” Draco asked.
“Oh no, we were just, um…studying.” Ginny stammered.
Draco raised his eyebrows. “And what subject might this be?”
Ginny blushed and looked away. Harry darted to her rescue. “Why are you here, Malfoy?”
Hermione took Draco’s hand, saying, “He’s here with me. What’s Ginny doing here?”
Harry put his arm around Ginny’s shoulders. “She’s with me.”
After an awkward moment of silence, Hermione said, “Oh, well, I’m very happy for you two. I knew you two would eventually end up together!” Ginny looked up. “Why do you say that?”
Hermione blushed. “Well, Ron and Harry are best friends, and you’re his younger sister, and so it’s like Harry’s formal initiation into the family.”
Ginny and Harry glared. “He’s considered part of the family anyway,” Ginny said, snuggling into Harry’s arms. “Right,” Hermione blushed.
Draco noticed that no one had any books with them for studying. “So, what are we supposed to be studying? I don’t know of any classes where books aren’t required.”
Hermione glanced up at him and then at Ginny and Harry. Realization flashed across her face. “I think we were brought here for another reason,” she said, looking at Harry.
Harry, avoiding her eye, said, “Yes well, Ginny and I-“ Ginny sharply elbowed him. “I,” he corrected, “wanted to talk to you.”
Hermione smiled. “Talk away.”
Harry took a deep breath and began talking. “Ok, so I’ve liked you pretty much since third year, Hermione. But I never said anything because I thought it would spoil our friendship and put Ron in an odd position. But when you started going out with-“ Harry glared at Malfoy, “-him, I had to say something. I mean, c’mon Hermione, this is the guy who tortured us all those years! This is the guy who’s father is one of my parents’ murder’s closest followers!”
Malfoy’s eyes flared up. “Just because my father has some problems as to where his loyalties lay doesn’t mean I do.”
Ginny looked up at him. “I know.” She smiled.
Hermione glanced from Ginny to Draco. “I know what’s going on here.”
Harry smiled. “You always were the clever one.”
“Ginny likes Draco, you like me, you guys staged this so we would get jealous and break up and I would go out with you and Ginny would go out with Draco and this has been planned for a while.” Hermione smiled triumphantly at the shocked looks on Harry and Ginny’s faces. “But,” she continued, “what you guys don’t realize is that silly crushes can’t separate Draco and I. Nice try, though.” And with that she walked out of the room, Draco following her.
