Kara was all for some sort of repentance with Professor Khanna. She still felt terrible about the interactions in the forbidden forest at the start of the term and not to mention with the lesson being held outside it was definitely a nice break from being cooped up in the castle. It was also a nice touch that Professor Khanna had warmed up the pumpkin patch for them, even if only temporary. She made a note to research that charm because it would definitely be useful.

Lethifold about to attack. Which spell would she not use? Reflecting back on the acromantula incident, easy for her. Lumos was not going to be effective. Well it sort of worked, but not really. And it only helped to see the path ahead, but also made her more visible to the predator.

Impediment jinx wouldn't be of any use and yet it was today's focus? Weird. Wouldn't it be more beneficial to learn spells that WOULD be useful? She supposed there was a method to Khanna's teaching but Kara definitely didn't see it. The wand movement was easy enough though. "im-PED-i-MEN-ta," she recited. "Im-pede-ment ah," she said again quicker this time, adding the 'ah' as a delayed.

Considering Khanna's question, she bit her lip. "Intention." Which was what that older slytherin boy had said. Oops. But it was seriously the only thing her young first year mind could think of because everything seemed to come back to intention. As the Ravenclaw girl elaborated on as well.

Waiting her turn for the older kids to go first, she stepped up to the yellow line once it was her turn. Palms sweaty, the Gryffindor girl watched with increased anxiety as she waited for the pumpkin to zoom at her, hoping it wouldn't be too bad. Instinctively raising her wand, she shouted, "Impediment." forgetting the final syllable in her panic, the pumpkin continued to motion forward at her...."Immedi... Impede..." her mind went blank but the pumpkin wasn't slowing down, it's sinister face glaring at her, saying how dumb she was... taunting her... It was all she could do but to dive to the side, and let the pumpkin collide instead with the wall behind her.

She failed. This was awful and embarrassing. And when Khanna spoke again asking them for their thoughts on why the outcome may not have been what they intended, Kara couldn't find the words to speak. She just wanted to leave. She would find time to practice on her own, without the scrutiny of her peers. Not that they were judging her, but she felt judged, even if they hadn't been paying her any mind.
