Ugh, god, could she stand a little further away, please? Now was not the time to intrude on his personal space. And her nonna sounded like a real trip, thank you very much. He scowled as he continued picking up his cards, still faced away from Calliope, of course. But he sensed that she knew he was blushing, had seen it even, was thinking about it, which made him want to gag out of irritation and—something else. Nerves? "Well, your nonna sounds like—" he started before snatching the card from Calliope over his shoulder.
He looked at it, comprehended it, and abruptly stopped speaking. Now was not the time, cards, thank you! And yet, still out of curiosity, he picked up the next card in front of him. The Lovers. "Merlin," he whispered to himself, exasperated. Couldn't tell which direction the card was facing—he picked it up sideways, after all—and wasn't sure what direction the Ace of Cups was originally oriented, either. But he knew that he did not want to have any further involvement in this reading. He shoved both the cards back into the stack he'd already picked up, and didn't bother looking at the rest as he picked them up.
"Don't you have to go train or something?" he asked over his shoulder, still not giving Calliope the satisfaction of looking at her. He would not be the one to back down on this front. His entire body language was reading leave, now, please, and he hoped that Calliope would pick up on that and go. He did not want to be perceived in the way he currently was, even by someone he considered maybe kind of a friend. They hadn't really known each other for that long, you know.
