It really wasn't my choice at all. I wish I could've finished out Hogwarts with you—with everyone. It was my parents. They just...didn't accept me. They found my diary and read about me using different pronouns and about my friends and they thought that taking me out of Hogwarts would make all of that just...stop. So they sent me to Durmstrang. I'm so sorry that I never said goodbye." Quinn was staring into their hot chocolate as they said this, feeling guilty even though they reasonably knew it wasn't their fault. It still must've been so confusing, and Quinn felt bad that that was partially because of them. Nice hot drink in hand, Dahlia followed Quinn back to their table, pulling out a chair and settling herself down onto it across from them. "It really has," she agreed, wrapping both hands around her drink and gently blowing on it before taking a small sip. Not a word was said from her as Quinn went ahead to explain what happened all those years earlier, why the hadn't returned to Hogwarts. Not once had she thought that Quinn simply, disappeared. At the time she couldn't make sense of it but now, hearing this, she understood. Did she agree with any of it? Absolutely not. From say one she had accepted Quinn for whom they were, so it was incredibly hard for her to hear that their parents hadn't been. "At the time it didn't make sense to me or any of us for that matter," she started quietly, speaking for their friends at that time as well. "All any of us knew was that you didn't come back and no one knew why. It wasn't you're fault though, I was never upset with you.. only with not knowing where you were or how to get in touch with you again." Had she tried over the years, yes she did but it had been a lot more difficult than she had expected it to be. But now, here was her friend once again!
