I know this is a fairly old thread, but music really helps me get in touch with character and emotion while I'm writing so I wanted to respond...

This song is just very vibe-y, I feel like it encapsulates a specific ennui-esque emotion I can't quite capture with words...but be warned it's 12 minutes, so if you like long songs without much content to them this is the one for you. I feel it represents moreso specific characters than an exact feeling.

This is one I like when a charrie is very infatuated with someone—I feel like it captures the excitement and tension of being really into someone very well. As an alternative if your charrie is very nervous about confessing to someone, try When He Sees Me from the Waitress soundtrack.

When your charrie is having family troubles, especially with parents, turn to this song. It's upbeat but at the same time melancholy, and I feel like is straight to the point yet very poignant with the subject matter. Could also be good just for when your charrie just generally disappoints someone/lets them down, but might not hit the same as in a familial way.

4. Four Point Steel Star by Kumo 99
Not explicit in English, at least? Not sure about Japanese

Sung in Japanese, not English to my knowledge

When your charrie is feeling edgy, this is the song I go to as of right now. Very grungy track that is still a bit dance-y; I like it because I can envision a music video to it, regardless of the fact that I don't actually know what they're saying.

I have to admit I definitely got this one off TikTok. But, it's a very fun track for charries feeling confident and fun—I always imagine my charries strutting down the street or a hallway in a very flattering outfit to this song. Just a fun vibe, which is no wonder why it was featured in the musical Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, though I like the original song better than the Broadway recording.
