Nadia had been just about to stir, curious as to which way to go when the professor spoke up to clarify, that this particular time it only mattered that she went the same way both stirs. So dipping her stirring rod into the potion, the Gryffindor did just that. One…two….stirs clockwise within the cauldron as she decided, her work apparently satisfied with her choice as the brewing liquid went blue. In went more of the powdered moonstone and another color change to purple. Then she keft it as directed, letting it simmer as she watched almost patiently for the potion to turn pink this time, the liquid seemingly taking its time. But finally she could move on.
With new steps added to the board, Nadia did her best to keep up. She took up her stewed mandrake and shook it, inwardly grateful for her brother’s question. How DOES one know their mandrake is ready? The sixth year vigorously shook hers, checking every once and awhile until it seemed to her to match Professor Adara’s description. She then added one to her cauldron, her brewing potion turning a blood red that gave a spooky effect. With a few stirs clockwise it lighted to a more orange color. Another mandrake added and it was more like lemonade until she stirred again this time several times counterclockwise, and it was green as a fresh blade of grass. In went another mandrake as instructed and the potion was now a very pretty turquoise that Nadia thought was the best color so far as she left it to simmer once more.
