  An Auror must possess a thorough knowledge of magical laws and standards regarding the Statute of Secrecy and Muggle relations, as well as pass stringent suitability tests and have no criminal record. The minimum requirement is 5 NEWTs at E level or higher in Charms, Defence against the Dark Arts, Herbology, Potions, and Transfiguration. Proficiency in Stealth and Tracking, Advanced Magical Combat, and Concealment and Disguise as well as a minimum of five other specialist subjects studied during the Auror recruitment programme are required.
