The nice thing about Christmas was that it was after her birthday - so she got to celebrate her birthday and just a few weeks later she would get to celebrate with more presents because of Christmas. It was like an extra birthday! The newly fifteen year old had been quietly observing, thinking how beautiful Christmas Trees looked with snow on them. Snow was great. As long as you didn't have to fly in it, but even so she would much rather fly in a snowstorm than a rainstorm.
Watching everyone else had her distracted that she nearly missed the introduction of spells they were using for tree decorating. The everlasting snow charm seemed cool but also maybe complicated?? She wondered if they were going to do some sort of colour-changing one as well. It would be actually cool to cast the snow charm in the common room and have a snowball fight or make snow angels without having to leave the room. Maybe if she was here over the break she'd do that with anyone who remained. Or even creating snow in the summertime? First things first though she needed master the charm.
"Pur-pet-you-ah niv-es" Practice first always. She looked over to some of the other fourth years - Ary, Bry, Rose, Jan - to see how they were doing. Just practicing now? What was Schmoop doing and where were the usual cookies? "Schmoop? Are you ... is everything okay?" She wasn't sure she'd ever seen him with a mop and bucket. Some of the other house elves, yes, but Schmoop was the baker not the cleaner so Emma was definitely concerned.
