There really was no reason for her to be up this far in the tallest tower of the castle. Gillyweed knew that the green in her robes made her stick out like a sore thumb up here where the Ravenclaws dwelled. Yet, she was unbothered by the attention her presence might attract. She didn't particularly care to worry about what others thought of her; standing out was more of a point of pride than a concern.
Despite her outward nonchalance, she was prepared to defend her unusual presence if anyone questioned her. During her very first night at Howarts years, the Sorting Hat had almost placed her in the house of blue and bronze. In her mind, this thin thread of connection to Ravenclaw's house made her well-qualified to tackle the riddle posed by the eagle knocker. Plus she enjoyed a mental challenge just as much as any student from who donned the colours of Rowena's house. She had no intentions of entering the Ravenclaw common room, but she found a peculiar thrill in the opportunity to prove her intellectual mettle.
Her face set in a determined expression, Gillyweed approached the ancient, ornate door devoid of a handle or keyhole. With a steady hand, she knocked firmly and listened intently.
Oh, that's a good one, she thought with a spark of excitement as she began to ponder potential responses.
