Eva / Rose Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Mrs. Charlie Weasley | Seneca's Beard | That's So Fetch With dinner for the day being over and the sky outside now dark and starry, Beauden found refuge in the common room. He wasn't ready to settle in for the night. Some of his fellow Gryffindors had already gone up to the dorms, their responsible streaks kicking in as they prepared for the next day's lessons. But the light brown-haired boy felt no such compulsion. The tiredness that usually signaled the end of a day hadn't hit him yet, not even a single yawn.
Of course, there was always the option of going up and having some bonding time with his dormmates—getting involved in whatever loud, reckless antics were probably brewing in the boys' dormitory. Usually, Beauden would be right there in the thick of it, cracking jokes, wrestling, or playing pranks, but tonight he had found a rare pocket of quiet.
He was curled up on one of the comfortable old sofas near the fireplace, a book resting in his lap. It wasn't often that Beauden picked up a book for fun, but when he did, it was always something that piqued his interest. This time, it was From Egg to Inferno: A Dragon-Keeper's Guide.
If one were to look closely, they would notice that he wasn't actually reading a single word that had been purposefully printed on the pages. Instead, every detailed sketch and diagram was holding his attention. For Beauden, the text was not necessary as each image triggered a flood of memories from his childhood on the dragon reserve in New Zealand.
