Aurora wasn’t sure it was her uncle’s usual style either but needs must and a simple wool jumper was better than the poor cat from freezing in the harsh winter. Her aunt meanwhile was exactly the type. They were a strange couple of complete opposites that seemed to work so well together. “My Aunt Kat wouldn’t call it an ugly jumper, she knits them herself” she giggled. And it wasn’t the cat who was most unimpressed by the request to wear festive garments but rather her own Ma and her aforementioned Uncle who often looked disgruntled and lacking festive cheer.
For as long as the Ravenclaw could remember, she had been obsessed with the idea of owning and riding a horse. Unfortunately the constraints of the centre of London did not accommodate her dream and she’d only managed to ride a pony on occasion. Being able to ride a Kelpie, as both terrifying and enthralling as the idea might have been, was definitely not on her agenda. “I’ve heard they aren’t the easiest to tame. Your family must be really good at it.” Especially considering that Kelpie’s had a reputation for trying to drown humans. “I’ve only ever ridden ordinary horses with their feet firmly on the ground. I’m terrible on the broom, I’m worried winged horses might be the same.” The outcome must be incredible, the process maybe not so.
It was okay, Aurora was a master at disguising how she really felt in favour of keeping up her sunny persona. Being left behind was a horrible thought, she was instead focusing on making the most of the year ahead of her. She supposed that her lonely last year at Hogwarts would be consumed by studying anyway. “I tried helping a friend study once, made him flash cards and everything but.. I think I was too distracting. I go on tangents sometimes, or I talk too much, or I’m too happy..” She couldn’t help it, no matter how hard she tried, everything was too exciting for her to keep her mouth shut and her emotions in check. “Mhmm..” she nodded, about to ask whether she had taught him only to remember that she herself had a different Professor in the first couple of years of her education. “Do you have to make your own healing potions for creatures? Or do you buy them?” She asked. She hoped it was the latter, for her own sake.
